Drafthouse already reaches LA early before it's planned theater even starts breaking ground
"A loan shark is forced to reconsider his violent lifestyle after the arrival of a mysterious woman claiming to be his long-lost mother.
Outside the Box [Office] and Drafthouse Films invite you to a special preview screening of Pieta, written/directed/edited by Kim Ki-Du "

Nobuhiko Obayashi: Schoolgirls In The Crosshairs

May 8-26
The Cinefamily

My favorite Japanese horror film "House" comes back for another screening in LA, but with it's Japanese director. Two night he'll be at the Cinefamily and the first night is already sold-out, the party afterward is not, it's free. Director Obayashi then makes his way into the Japan Film Festival. This all comes after a retrospective of his work that happened in New York.

He's style is utterly nuts and something you have to watch with a friend, some of his work never made it to the states, so these are special screenings. You won't be able to see this stuff on Netflix.

Beverly Hills Film Festival

Though I wouldn't touch  "King Tigermore in Strawberry Fields" with a ten-foot pole, a cartoon about a New York kid playing chess against a tiger, there's plenty of other films to see.
