Way too excited about inflammatory bowel disease, this and other sad events this week

Understanding Inflammatory Bowel Disease: What Every Patient Needs to Know

I just think the whole event idea is funny. Anyone going will be assumed to have the disease. The bathrooms have to be decent. I'm just loving what they wrote on yelp for the event. Really, how do you spin an event like that to be fun or that anyone should attend?

I kind of want to go just to see what goes wrong or see who attends.

Join us for an exciting update on Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis!

Coming to a City Near You!

Looks like friend of the blog Sky Bruchard is apart of quite a interesting show. No idea to make of it, but seems like a fun event to attend and maybe think about current media.

from their site

Information permeates society today in unprecedented magnitudes and methods. Metadataphile: The Collapse of Visual Information features sixteen international artists who transform and recontextualize data into art that make socio-political statements. These artists appropriate, hack, pirate, and reorder metadata from objects, events and cultural phenomena into film, installation, painting, photography, sculpture, and sound.

It was a Cookie Showdown

Cookies, cookies, everywhere, but not a drop of milk.I attended the lazily put together Cookie Showdown , which was moved at the last minute at the last Downtown Art Walk. The event organizers didn't mention it would be held in boutique. A poorly lit boutique at that. However, there were many cookies to enjoy. I really enjoyed the Platine Bakery's cookies They were sharing a vanilla cream cookie that was sweet and filling. You see, a special pass would allow you to sample one cookie from each of the attending cookie makers.

The event would have been better outside. It was claustrophobic inside the boutique, which was still filled with clothing and hard to move around. I don't think I would attend another Hello Drama (events creator) event until they understand not to crowd people in a darkly lit room for cookies.

Also, Freshly Baked had to be the worst cookie there. Freshly Baked didn't even give full samples, they gave small pieces of cookie on toothpicks. Rip-off.

Adventure Time doesn't win Emmy

Instead the Creative Arts Primetime Emmy for  Best Short-Form Animated Program went to Robot Chicken. I've thought Robot Chicken has gone down in the last few years. Titan Maxium is just a train wreck. Anyway thought I share the sad news. I still think Adventure Time should have won.

This sucks.

Hey, Nickeledeon maybe try and get nominated for something next year. You probably won't though as you passed on Adventure Time.

Chocolate Trouble Delicious Design

Delicious.

Exquisite.

Brought down, by a bad anime filling.

I bought Volume one of Trouble Chocolate the other day just for it's eye-catching design. The dvd looks like a open chocolate bar. It serves the purpose of reminding you of the show's title and it's bizarre too- much food eating protagonist. It looks good enough to eat.

The anime is bizarre, yet a clone of the same story scene a dozen times . A boy finds a cute girl with magical powers and she likes him for no good reason. Add wacky cast and you have the same bland anime seen a dozen time over. Visually the show isn't as nice or thoughtful as the DVD cover.

Just look at the back the nutrition guide, its fairly clever

Trouble Chocolate's dvd cover design was clever, I just wish the anime could have been too. Or at least entertaining.

Go flying than go topless all at the beach

Red Bull FLUGTAG Long Beach

See people  attempt to fly. It seems the annual Red Bull Flugtag or "fly day" in German is this Saturday. See people show off thier dumb flying crafts that plummet to the ocean. Comment about the likeness of the story of Icarus and get punched in the mouth for talking like a sissy, your at a damn Red Bull event, what the Hell are you thinking.

Nisei Week improved by remodeling

The big Nisei festival Weekend was yesterday. What I mainly noticed were that all the improvement to the Village Plaza were finished.
I'm glad to see the fire tower back up so fast. The last one needed to be taked down due to termites and safety issues. This new one is made of metal.
The tanabata festival had some great pices up. There relaxing to see swaying in the wind.

The burger one was just funny.

Nisei Week Returns

The Japanese festival in Little Tokyo "Nisei Week" has been sparkling events since the start of August. No real idea why it's called Nisei week when the huge events just happen this weekend. August 14th and 15th

Wikipedia tells us Nisei means 2nd generation in Japanese, describing the first American born Japanese, a group which the seven day festival was originally meant to attract. Though named for the Nisei generation, Nisei Week is no longer targeted at Niseis, nor is the festival still contained within a week.

Head down to Little Tokyo this Saturday and Sunday for festival events, live music, sales, food booths, and more . To big booth setups will cover Little Tokyo one in the JACCC Plaza and one in the JANM courtyard. There be booths with food and other goodies in between. Sales might be going on and fun activities through out the weekend like Karoke and Sumo demonstrations.

It's a great way to spend the weekend.

The tanabata festival will be in force. Tanabatas are huge lanterns that will be hanging behind the Japanese American National Museum
.

The Grand Parade starts at 5:30pm Sunday. Get their early because all traffic will blocked around Little Tokyo when it starts. The Grand Parade is a great spectacle of all aspects of Japanese culture. They even have a cosplay march for the Otaku.

If you haven't noticed Tokidoki is doing the artwork for this years 70th annual festival.

Anime Jungle is showing off the person who played Kikaida in Japan
better known in america as Kikaider, yes there was a live action show based on this anime shown on adult swim.

The only problem is the info on the Nisei week site is a bit out of it currently, hopefully it updates soon.
