Adventure Time Time: Ends Sept 3

We have the date of the final episodes of Adventure Time and the adventure ends September 3rd. It looks like there's going to be one big battle to finish up the series. We'll keep updating you with news in these last few months of the show.

Don't forget we get a new hybrid episode tonight on CN with Minecraft.

Game Hype: GNOG & Gal*Gun 2 on Steam

GNOG, one of our favorite puzzle games, check out our review, is finally out on Steam and iOS, perfect for tablet. We've seen this grow over years of development at IndieCade and other events and just want more head puzzles to solve. Let's hope the makers, KO_OP can add some DLC to these new versions.

Gal*Gun 2, we also reviewed it here, comes to Steam too. And this is a silly game out of Japan where you shoot girls with a love gun and suck off their clothes with the same gun. Yes, it's real, really silly.
Get Gal*Gun 2 on Steam here:

It's going for $59.99, but it's 20% until July 27th.

Anime Hype: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Movie & Evangelion 4.0

We have a English dub trailer for the next Dragon Ball movie, Dragon Ball Super: Broly. It's coming out one month after the film comes out in Japan this December. So, we get it in January 2019 in theaters, really that's the fastest we've ever got a Dragon Ball movie dubbed in America.

Art reveal for the next film
In some big news not out of Comic-Con, Evangelion 4.0, if that's what it'll even be called, is coming out in Japan 2020.  The last film came out in Japan in 2012, we got it later. It was 2014 when it was in theaters here and didn't see a release on DVD/ Blu-ray until 2016. So, Japan might get it in 2020, but us...let's hope Funimation makes a deal as good as they did with Dragon Ball.

The reason the last DVD/ Blu-ray took so long was because those who make Eva over in Japan are kind of perfectionist. The sub has to capture the correct meaning of the words to the original in English and though you may think it's a lot of people working on getting that done, there's probably not a huge staff doing that. Funimation doesn't get to just do their in-house subbing or send it off to a third party, it takes an insane amount of time.

Hopefully, we get a sub in theaters a few months after Japan in 2020 and then it may well be a year or years before a dub and streaming version for English speakers. Let's hope the same voice actors from the three other Fun dubs are still working.

Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich Los Angeles Premiere Aug 14

These puppets are going to be brutal. They sure ain't the Muppets. If you grew up in the 80's or 90's or just have  been watching movie channels late at night you've probably seen the Puppet Master series. A series of films where puppets with different gimmicks like hooks for hands or a drill for a head murder people. Well, after years of being shelved their back and more brutal than ever.

Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich Los Angeles Premiere Tue, Aug 14, 2018
Egyptian Theatre 6712 Hollywood Boulevard
Hollywood, CA 90028

Discussion following with producers Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk, and actors Thomas Lennon, Nelson Franklin, Udo Kier and Jenny Pellicer.

Now the latest in the series, which has had some straight up cow turd of films, is back and going straight for the high violence horror route.

I was told these are Nazis puppets and you are meant to hate them, you aren't rooting for them. But you're also not rooting for the victims in this one. I got this bit of info straight from one of the the members of the Shock Waves podcast, one if not the best horror podcasts out there now. So you get ready for some violence carried out by bad guys on people you won't grow to like.

For long time fans this movie brings back the old puppets via a Puppet Master convention, people are collecting puppets found in bizarre murders, so yeah they"ll be a ton of meta an in-jokes from the films. For newcomers, get ready for some amazing B-Horror cinema you have to see with a big audience.

The premiere is going to be the best time to see it as this will be a crowd to yell, laugh and possibly leave the theater in disgust with.

The Jim Henson Exhibition Puppet Party

by Jonathan Bilski

Time to explore the history and life of the late great Jim Henson. Thanks to the Skirball, we have a new exhibition for kids young and old about the man who gave us The Muppets. The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited is going on now and will be gone by the end of Summer. It takes us through the early years of Jim Henson's life creating what one day would be The Muppets to his later years still making movies and television programs. With multiple interactive booths, footage from Henson's career and plenty of puppets to take pictures with you"ll want to wander through and maybe find your rainbow connection.

Tuesday, July 24, 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, August 7, 7:30 p.m.

You're, of course, greeted by a friendly green frog as you enter the exhibit. I could hear a father coxing his son to come in by doing the Kermit the Frog voice. As soon as you"ll enter, you"ll see a life time of work. Early odd commercials of brands of breads and milk you haven't heard of being sold by puppets. A puppet play station, where you can try an act out a scene. Older puppets from well before they were called Muppets.

You"ll learn about Jim Henson working on an early puppet show to starting his own puppet career and in the blink of an eye or really a turn to the next exhibit you"ll see him off creating his own work.

Slowly you"ll see the draw between the professional work that Jim Henson did to live off of, he did a lot of films for big business and even some industrial work for a meat comapny. Then you"ll see art he was tcreated He did make some freaky made for TV films like The Cube and other works. There was even the idea for a night club called Cyclia with some more adult themes, that of course aren't presented at the exhibit, the Henson wanted to try and make.

Soon after bouncing around ideas, Jim Henson mostly focused on the Muppets with a big break with Sesame Street, creating many lovable characters that kids and their parents still love today. You"ll see some familiar faces like The Count, Bert & Ernie and even Grover.

There's a whole section devoted to your dog pal Rowlf, who was one of the most popular Muppets in his day and his popularity really pushed Jim Henson's success through. Who knew?

You"ll travel over to look at props and moments from The Muppet Show and Muppet movies. What agreat photo op with the opening number of The Muppet Show background to take pics of yourself and friends.
There's even a wall showing every episode of The Muppet Show at once. It's fun to look at and see how much you can take in and spot celebrities from yesteryear appearing on the show.
Every episode of The Muppet Show playing on a loop
After that area, there's a wonderful look at the other properties that Jim Henson created like Fraggle Rock and his other films: Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal. You"ll see he's work before his untimely passing with a show about dog cops and explaining science to kids. There's a puppet area for children to enjoy staging their own show, right before the end of the exhibit.

The Jim Henson Exhibit is a wonderful look back at someone who meant so much to many of our childhoods. It was like looking into the past, learning a little bit more about someone who made puppets his life and wanted to explore the medium. Jim Henson was a true director, artist, entertainer, educator and a guy who could make some silly voices with friends that we love still to this day.

We would have liked if Statler and Waldorf would heckle us when we left from some balcony. Learning and seeing everything that Jim Henson made will just have to do.

Privacies Infrastructure is a new public program by Materials & Applications that explores the notions of privacy and privatization in the residential landscape of Los Angeles. A walk through our neighborhoods reveals a visual catalogue of wood planks, chain link fencing, steel bars, aluminum screens, and green hedges. These fences, window gratings, and security gates are common fixtures of many residential Los Angeles neighborhoods. They are so ubiquitous in the city’s urban fabric that they often go unnoticed, yet they are integral to the ways we define individual and collective access to land, housing, and property.
