Weekly What To Do: It's Over 9,000 Things To Do!

It's a great week for pop culture art, you have all the galleries we mention with new shows, but 1988. If it's Japanese culture, like DBZ or just wanting to see movies that will never exist, this is a nice week to admire the work of artists who will never be remembered for their own ideas.

The Dragon Ball 30th Anniversary tribute will feature the work of over 80 artists, many of whom are veterans of the animation industry and whose work has been featured numerously online. The show also pays homage to Akira Toriyama , the creator of Dragon Ball and a bunch of series you may have never heard of.

Things To Do In LA is holding a World Martial ArtsTournament Power Up and Dragon Ball Cosplay Contest opening night. Fans in attendance can win prizes sponsored Bandai Namco, whose new game Dragonball XenoVerse comes out this February. Viz has also donated some manga as prizes for the Power-Up Contest.

A year has passed since we hosted Hot Pot Girls by Katsuya Terada. Aside from his status as the "Doodle King," he practically holds "legendary" status in Japan. While his audience for original art grows, his constant effort into work shows. He'll pursue a part II of his Hot Pot Girls series. We'll make an assumption that he hasn't had enough of the series. 2014 also marks his 30th year in
illustration.
