Sherman Oaks Street Fair
Sunday, Oct 18, 10 am-6pm
Venture Blvd Sherman Oaks

One event we always have a fondness for is the Sherman Oaks Street Fair. We've attended it so many time over the years and it always changes with new businesses and the community that surround it. Yet, it still retains much of the love from the smae folsk that keep going to it year after year.

Before shutting down streets for just the hell of it or 626 night markets you had one of the San Fernando Valley's biggest events. It is the quintessential street fair that you just glide through, bring the kids, go on a date or just walk through some friends.

MAGICAL GIRL / NOTHING IN RETURN
Sun, Oct 18, 7:30pm
Egyptian Theatre 6712 Hollywood Boulevard
Hollywood, CA 90028

We honestly only care about Magical Girl, which has a passerby connection to anime with a terminally ill girl wanting a lavish magical girl outfit before she dies, that's only one part of the story. This is going to be a dark drama that will be hard to find anywhere else.

Synopsis
Luis (Luis Bermejo) has a 12-year-old daughter with a terminal illness and a last wish – to have a dress just like the main character of her favorite Japanese anime series. The unemployed professor doesn’t have the money to purchase the dress, but thinks he can get it with a little help from a former teacher (José Sacristán) and an unbalanced young woman (Goya and Feroz winner Bárbara Lennie). Vermut’s sure directorial hand weaves multiple story lines together in this haunting (and occasionally intense) drama. In Spanish with English subtitles.
