Movie Hype: Escape From Tomorrow, Space Battleship Yamato, Why Don't You Play In Hell

The Downtown Independent is getting some fun movies to check out on the big screen. So far they have the first run of Escape From Tomorrow.

I've previewed the movie look for a review soon. It's a dumb movie to watch with friends and if a fan of Disney it pulls a bit on your memories.

Space Battleship Yamato
October 19th: 7:30pm
October 27th: 5:00pm

A big budget sci-fi film from Japan being released over here on screens by Eleven Arts. It's based on a cartoon series that many might have seen in the US as Star Blazers.  I've seen the film and it's a Japanese big blockbuster movie. So big Japanese stars with a convoluted story about aliens and a giant Space battleship. It's on par with our American battleship with over the top action and deaths.

You've seen the Yamato appear in other animes from time to time as it's classic in Japan.

Sion Sono, a favorite director of The Cinefamily has his new film about a Yakuza's daughter trying to make it as an actress and a hapless bunch of moviemakers ready to make a film for them. The trailer of floor blood slides and rainbow sword cuts leaves me wanting to see how far-fetched and bloody it gets.

"A violent confrontation with a rival yakuza clan leaves a mob boss's wife in prison and his daughter’s performing career derailed. Some down-on-their-luck moviemakers may be able to give the aspiring actress a boost - but they are walking into a bloodbath. Impossible to categorize and astonishing to experience, WHY DON'T YOU PLAY IN HELL? is a visceral and visual rush unlike anything else. In Japanese with English subtitles."
