Japan House Now Open

Japan House Los Angeles is now open at the Hollywood and Highland Center. It kind of reminds us of a museum store attached to a small gallery. It's part of Japan's effort to show Japanese culture around the world. There's many items to get direct from Japan, but nothing there seems priced that well for the average fan of Japanese culture. Think high-priced gifts.

If you're thinking anything along the lines of the otaku variety; you lovers of anime and manga should look elsewhere.

The gallery's current show by it's own name isn't that engaging. SUBTLE, a show about Japanese paper used in modern terms. Not that most interesting topic.

The gallery is free and the people working there are friendly.

We will revisit Japan House when more of it is finished as it's suppose to take up two floors and have a restaurant, library and more.

Even with those additions it seems like Japan House is missing a major part without embracing some part of anime fandom.

Anime Expo, the largest anime convention in the country is this July and there's been no word from Japan House being a part of it or doing anything special with it in town.

We can't wait to see the fully realized location, but we hope it can bring some joy to those who would also visit AX.
