I am pleased to share the news that Sony Pictures will be reopening and restoring the historic Cinerama Dome. I was briefed by them on their reopening plans and can’t reveal any details, but I was invited to join the Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation so I look forward to… pic.twitter.com/FegtAyAbIc

We're not sure how to take it, but the Cinerama Dome and the adjacent theater are coming back and restored by Sony of all companies. As much as people wanted the Cinerama Dome back, ehhh, coming back under Sony is a bit hard to be hopeful for. Yes, the dome keeps the name, but the adjacent theater will be a Drafhouse.
Sony, already embroiled in many, many bad decisions like killing off game discs by 2028 has also not been a good shepherd of the Alamo Drafthouse brand since it purchased it. The experience of ordering food from in the theater since their take over, now on a phone app, during the film, is incredibly hated.

Here's hoping people can just enjoy the dome experience again, it is a great theater.
