The 50th Annual Los Angeles Korean Festival with Korean food, performances, activities, shopping, music, and dancing. This event is free.

More than just a series of film screenings, German Currents is a platform for cultural exchange, connecting German films and filmmakers with the greater Los Angeles community. This year’s festival takes place from October 13 – 16 with screenings at the American Cinematheque and the Goethe-Institut.

Friday, October 13 features a showing of Freaky Friday (2003), starring Santa Monica native, Jamie Lee Curtis with several essential shots filmed on  the Promenade. Guests can also enjoy a Q&A with Freaky Friday screenwriter Heather Hach at 7:15 pm before the film starts. This free event begins at 6:30 pm, featuring a live DJ set, with the film starting at 7:30 pm. Complimentary popcorn will be served.

Rebecca Sugar, the creator of Steven Universe and story artist for Adventure Time, is set to showcase her personal work in a solo exhibition.This exhibit will primarily feature her personal drawings from the past decade, along with newer works based on journaling, cute stationary, stamps, stickers, and all things cozy and intimate.

In tandem to the art exhibition, for one night only, Rebecca will be performing live in concert. This will also kick off the release of her new album SPIRAL BOUND, which will debut at the concert November 4th!

Explore the Norton Simon Museum’s exquisite collection of South and Southeast Asian art as we celebrate the opening of the exhibition Benevolent Beings: Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from South and Southeast Asia. Weirdo Night is a popular long-running freak forward variety show hosted and curated by Dynasty Handbag (alter ego of Made in L.A. artist Jibz Cameron). For the Hammer iteration, Weirdo Night will feature performances by Made in L.A. artists Marcel Alcalá, Pippa Garner (in absentia), Page Person, and Xina Xurner (Young Joon Kwak and Marvin Astorga) with travesdee, plus a dance performance by HAAGS (Jibz Cameron + Emilia Richeson of Ponysweat).

CicLAvia – Heart of LA, presented by Metro, also known as CicLAvia’s signature route, welcomes everyone of all ages and abilities to its 48th car-free open streets event connecting the Downtown LA corridor and includes Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Historic Core of DTLA, South Park, the 6th Street Viaduct, and Boyle Heights, for participants to jog, ride, bike, skate, run, walk, skateboard, spectate, play, and enjoy the 7.8-mile route. Always free, CicLAvia participants just show up anywhere along the route at any time to enjoy the open streets and to take the time to explore the ‘Heart of LA.’
