The Egyptian Theatre Re-Opens Nov 9

In some fairly large cinephile news, The Egyptian will reopen this November, just shy of all that good Halloween-time horror. The first big event for the grand opening?

Netflix and The American Cinematheque Present a Special Event Screening of The Killer and a Q&A with David Fincher

Tickets available via exclusive presale for newsletter subscribers starting at 9am PT on October 25. Remaining tickets will be available here at noon PT.

As memory serves, as it's been three years since it closed down, Netflix and American Cinematheque split the theater for content. I think Netflix gets it during the week and on weekends it's controlled by American Cinematheque's amazing programming. It might have changed, but you're going to see a lot of Netflix premieres and showings so their films can qualify for different awards. (To qualify for some awards, films literally do have to play in theaters in the LA area for a week, but they don't need anyone to watch them, weird)

Here's some more upcoming events there

he American Cinematheque Presents: Ultra Cinematheque 70 Fest 2023

November 22 to December 7
Bradley Cooper’s Maestro in Dolby Atmos

December 5
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Other Short Films by Wes Anderson
A big screen spotlight on Anderson’s triumphant Henry Sugar and some of his favorite one-reelers from 1995-2021

We're glad it's finally re-opening, renovated and probably looks all shiny and new.
