Weekly What To Do: Thanksgiving or Early Christmas, Oh, & Happy Hanukkah!

Happy Holidays as Thanksgiving is this Thursday. Then, Sunday Night, is the first night of Hanukkah and after that it's basically Christmas for the rest of the month. We'll have everything to do do until the week of the endless void, better known as Christmas Eve as the city shuts down, but that's in late December. There's still plenty to do, before then.

The 9th Annual Turkey Trot Los Angeles
Thanksgiving morning – November 25th, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. 5k starts at 8:00 a.m. and 10k starts at 9:00 a.m. Packet pickup opens at 6:45 a.m. on race day.
Downtown Los Angeles. The race starts and finishes in front of City Hall at 200 N Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Trot before you gobble! In the spirit of Thanksgiving, this event benefits The Midnight Mission – an amazing organization that offers a path to self sufficiency to those experiencing homelessness. Create a fundraising team during registration!
 

  • The Immersive Nutcracker Experience on Level 8 (November 26 - December 31): The all-new walk-through fairytale experience, from the producers of the Russian Ballet Theatre, will offer dreamlike holiday experiences featuring iconic moments, characters and settings, as seen in the beloved ballets and stories from Tchaikovsky's timeless Nutcracker score. 
  • Saturday Snowman Shows & Live Holiday Music in Grand Court (November 26, December 4, 11 and 18): Beginning the Saturday of Black Friday weekend, watch Frosty come to life with our Snowman Show, made from real snow! Pose with contactless photos at our Beverly Center snowman. Plus, enjoy the live sounds of your favorite holiday classics.  
  • Winter Wonderland at 3rd Street Valet (Black Friday - December 31): Enjoy photo moments on Santa’s sleigh, with Frosty and more!

The Los Angeles Dodgers are hosting a Holiday Festival in the beautiful, newly-renovated Centerfield Plaza, the warning track, and both bullpens complete with nightly entertainment, an ice skating rink, scenic and light displays, holiday-themed food and beverage, and an opportunity to take photos with Santa!

2ND & PCH celebrates the Festival of Lights with the Shul by the Shore Grand Chanukah Extravaganza on Sunday, November 28th 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm to commemorate the first night of Chanukah. This celebration is free and open to all, presented in partnership with Shul by the Shore. Lighting of the menorah will take place at 4:00 pm on the 2ND & PCH grand staircase led by Rabbi Abba Perelmuter. Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia will be in attendance and speak immediately following the lighting, joined by community leaders. Entertainment will include a live three-piece band, a stilt walker and Chanukah crafts for children. Light pre-packaged refreshments and chocolate gelt will be served.

On Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m., we'll summoning the sights and sounds of the season with the Annual Tree Lighting under the stars and snow on the station’s South Patio. Performances from the vintage voices of The Beverly Belles and L.A. favorites Weekend Celebrity, along with a “live” mural from eclectic artist Septerhed and an appearance by a special guest from the North Pole, will vault you into the holiday spirit.

To kick off to the season, the historic station will illuminate a towering 30-foot tree as guests are immersed in thousands of glistening lights and snow flurries on the striking South Patio while enjoying a free hot cocoa and holiday cookie bar. The fun, festive, family-friendly holiday celebration will also feature a holiday arts and crafts zone, a custom photo opportunity and Santa selfies.
 
Largo, known for comedy shows, is back open and selling out shows. Grab some tickets before everything sells out. Many new shows from some of LA's top comedians. We see Bill Burr, Patton Oswalt, Pete Holmes and Sarah Silverman to name a few.
