"Animated films are generally viewed as children’s entertainment in America, but in Japan they target a much broader audience. Anime is rooted in long-standing traditions of Japanese manga, and in addition to reflecting the bold visual style of those graphic novels, the films tackle a wide range of subject matter – they’re not restricted to cuddly cartoon animals."

Through her paintings, Rapone invokes the willing suspension of disbelief and the engagement of suspicion aligned along particular interests or ideas communicated to us by the characters she portrays. Initially conceived as coping mechanisms for a future as a failed painter, Rapone's portraits now tap into consequences of exposure: humiliation, vulnerability, self-doubt and self-deprivation.

Check out the latest crazy anime movie from Japan about ... firefighters, but it's from the people who made Gurren Lagann, the same people who are now Studio Trigger. So, expect some spectacular animation and a ridiculus plot like only Japan can. We saw it at Anime Expo 2019 and highly recommend it to anyone whose into anime and want a night out in theaters.
