Weekly What To Do: New Year's Eve Parties & Nothing Else

Oh, boy...if you thought last week had nothing going on, well, welcome to purgatory. Sorry to say, but ain't nothing going on, but New Year's Eve Parties and we listing some of our favorites below. So have a Happy New Year and after this week a whole new year of things to do.

All events taking place Sun Dec 31st, unless noted differently.



Don't Drink & Drive Use The Free Metro on New Year's Eve
*To help you ring in the New Year safely, Metro will operate 24-hour, overnight service on Metro Rail, plus Orange and Silver Lines. Free rides will be offered for all bus and rail service from 9pm on December 31, 2017, until 2am on the morning of January 1, 2018.

Downtown's annual New Year's Eve cerebration with 3D projection. As always a huge amount of LA will turn out to usher in the New Year with live music, food and seeing weird stuff projected on City Hall.

*Be sure to read the rules. No alcohol in Grand Park.

Wilshire Grand Center Light Show

"Starting at 6:00 p.m. PT on New Year’s Eve, the 73-story vertical spine of the Wilshire Grand Center will begin filling-up with color incrementally in perfect synchronization with the passage of time. Each hour, there will be a momentary variation and a foreshadowing of what’s to come. Exactly at 11:59 p.m. PT, a bold, clear 60-second countdown will begin on the crown signage display on both sides of the building. The brilliance of the Wilshire Grand Center’s crown signage will make the countdown visible for an approximate 15 mile radius surrounding Los Angeles. At midnight, a surprise grand finale will usher in the New Year."

The New Year’s Eve event, the first ever for Universal Studios Hollywood, is included in the price of theme park admission and invites guests to spend the day and night enjoying its many popular rides and attractions with a special park-wide countdown party featuring multiple entertainment hubs with DJs and live music, starting at 9:00 p.m.

Universal Plaza, Simpsons Plaza located adjacent to “The Simpsons Ride” and an area near “Jurassic Park—The Ride” will transform into three uniquely-themed electrifying party hubs that will culminate simultaneously at midnight with a traditional New Year countdown and a spectacular fireworks display.

Food and beverages, including specialty desserts, champagne, beer and wine, as well as 2018 memorabilia will be available for purchase.
