Foreign Movies Opening Friday

JeruZalem
Ahrya Fine Arts
8556 Wilshire Blvd.

Special Q&A hosted by filmmakers Doron and Yoav Paz after the 7:30PM screening and special introduction hosted by the filmmakers before 10:10PM screening on Friday, January 22nd.

In this award-winning supernatural thriller, two American girls on vacation follow a mysterious and handsome anthropology student on a trip to Jerusalem. The party is cut short when the trio is caught in the middle of a biblical apocalypse. Trapped between the ancient walls of the holy city, the three travelers must survive long enough to find a way out as the fury of hell is unleashed upon them. Filmed on location in Israel, JeruZalem gives a firsthand point-of-view journey to some of the world’s most religious sites never before seen on screen. Starring Yael Grobglas (Jane the Virgin, Rabies) and Yon Tumarkin (Rock the Casbah).

Ip Man 3

Playhouse 7

Donnie Yen (upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2) ignites the screen in a return to the role that made him an icon - as Ip Man, the real-life Wing Chun grandmaster who mentored Bruce Lee. In this explosive third installment of the blockbuster martial arts series, when a band of brutal gangsters led by a crooked property developer (Mike Tyson) makes a play to take over the city, Master Ip is forced to take a stand.  Fists will fly as some of the most incredible fight scenes ever filmed play out on the big screen in this soon-to-be genre classic.

In this new series of works, Strid continues to explore imagery with water. Expert at capturing its reflective movement and depth, her paintings are filled with refracted light and distortions. Her subjects are presented in varying states of submersion and vulnerability, as her watery portraits take on a meditative dimension. Suspended somewhere between an unsettling and eerie calm and a foreboding anticipation, Strid arrests time.
