Garth Marenghi's Darkplace & Dead Heat: For Your Halloween Screening Pleasure

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is just so much in a six episode series out of England. Making fun of both the horror genre and 80's television we get a the best horror comedy to watch leading up to Halloween.

Dr. Rick Dagless, M.D. is the greatest doctor/human being who has ever lived, who knows kung-fu and to play both the sax and electric guitar. He's joined by Thornton Reed, head of the hospital and essentially his chief. His best pal Dr. Lucien Sanchez, who oozes sex appeal is there to help him, punch their fists together and then shoot a pointy finger back. And let's not forget new lady doctor, Dr. Liz Asher who has psychic powers. They must battle the strange forces of evil that infect the hospital, Darkplace.

As it turns out Garth Marenghi, who plays Dr. Rick Dagless comments on every episode explaining key points as to why the show is so great. He's joined by Dean Learner, who played Reed, though you can tell it was his first time acting...all the time.

We have a show making fun of itself every chance it gets with the premise of being a real drama that aired in the 80's and then reinforced by how stupid it was with commentary from the shows dimwitted creator and producer.

It aired for a little bit on Adult Swim years back, but in case you missed it, it's free to see on YouTube. We couldn't find it legit streaming on any service, because those who made it deserve your money. People like Richard Ayoade (The I.T. Crowd) and Matt Berry (Twelve Forever) who you've seen on numerous British TV shows and pooping up in bit parts all over American media.

Find all episodes here.

Dead Heat, which does have it's own killer 80's theme song at the end, is a gem. An 80's, buddy cop horror movie set in LA. We're mentioning it now as it's streaming on Amazon Prime and worth your time for the insane amount of violence and LA references. Starfleet Academy's favorite spot in LA, The Japanese Garden, becomes an evil pharmaceutical company in this one, that has a dog killing room way too open in a hallway that an innocent person could get stuck in.

We don't want to give too much up, but of the cops is name is Rigor Roger Mortis. It's a dead cop, alive cop team up with buckets of bullets perfect to watch with friends.
