Summerween, Wait What?

 

  

 

Yes, Summerween is a real thing. It's celebrating Halloween in the Summer and some retailers are getting into it. It comes from a cartoon called Gravity Falls that couldn't do a Halloween episode as it's set over Summer vacation, so the holiday Summerween was invented. Embraced by fans and retailers and so new it has two official dates June 22nd and July 31st, the later copying Oct 31st. However, retailers started early Halloween sales for some time now to give Halloween fans time to prep for decorations. For whatever reason this Summer has shown a bit more press for the holiday and encouragement to throw a Halloween party in the heat.

 

We went to a few stores to see what they offered. All major retailers are supposed to have some Summerween merch out. 

 

Sadly, Target  was not playing ball. Just a Summer section that needs to add a "ween" to it. They did have some delightful pool toys resembling snack food.

 

Now TJ Maxx & Marshalls were way more into the Summerween spirit.

 

 

Michael's was more in the Summerween spirit with a heavy dose of pink on every monsters, ghost and skeleton.

Oh, and Bath & Body Works really got into it, but check online for other retailers who've gotten into it.
