This summer, the American Cinematheque invites you on a journey back to turn-of-the-century Southeast Asia for ‘Rebels of the Neon Millennium,’ a series that delves into the world of y2k-era alienated youth struck by existential ennui, disillusionment and a whole lot of teenage angst. Each curated film captures the quiet desperation and intense longing for connection of the defiant adolescents in the foreground, those seeking solace in a rapidly changing world that seems increasingly indifferent to their existence. Dreamlike stylization and disjointed narratives abound, evocative of the disorder and fragmentation in these characters’ lives. This is a neon-drenched cinematic journey into the depths of adolescence, each film a hazy artifact that captures the zeitgeist of a bygone era.

With heart and 'sole' and unflinching determination, Kenneth Cole has put 'cause' before 'commerce' for 40 years, igniting social awareness and change. Kenneth's commitments to AIDS, homelessness, LGBTQIA+ rights, civil liberties, social justice and now, mental health, have given voice to the voiceless, defied and shattered stigmas, provoked conversation, built coalitions and inspired and empowered action for good.
