Scary Feb: The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor Presents: Dark Masquerade & Resident Evil Raccoon City Cinema

By Jonathan B. Lood

Woah, boys and ghouls, let's see what we have happening this Feb. Before you ask about, you'd think I'd be all in for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and Return to Silent Hill, but the reviews for the latter isn't great. As of writing this, Return to Silent Hill has a 16% on Rotten Tomatoes and 28 flopped it's opening weekend. Though, it's Rotten Tomatoes is actually quite good. Forbes has ‘Return To Silent Hill’ Is The Worst-Reviewed Video Game Movie In 19 Years. Ooof, I hope it isn't that bad, because I really wanted to see the return of director  Christophe Gans. And, he's been through a lot.

On to Feb, next month has some fun plans and we hope these two are just the start.

Friday the 13th and Saturday, February 14th
The Queen Mary: 1126 Queens Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90802
Tickets start at $59 + fees.
This is a 21+ event. A valid government-issued ID is required for entry and to purchase alcoholic
beverages. Tickets start at $59 + fees.

From the same people who bring you the current incarnation of Dark Harbor comes a very Valentines Day event. Where you can be spooky in love and also scared. So, yes, it's a couples themed haunt just in time for Valentine's Day and it' seems pretty worth it.

"Dress to haunt—and be haunted—at Dark Masquerade, an after-hours takeover of the Queen Mary. Sway through a high-energy masquerade dance party under dimmed chandeliers and creeping fog, then slip into the ship’s belly for story-driven encounters where Dark Harbor icons pull you deeper into their legends.

Descend six fathoms below the waterline for Gale’s Requiem, follow bass-thick vibrations down grated catwalks as you slip past gauges and humming pipes, stand inside the “resonance” circle to feel the pulse climb, and watch Dr. Edwin Masters’ final test derail as Graceful Gale seizes the baton and turns the room—and you—into her orchestra; clutch a single red glowstick for The Search for Mary, weaving with your sweetheart through shadowed corridors in pursuit of mischievous Scary Mary; then brave Sweethearts’ Slaughterhouse, where you’ll peek past swinging kitchen doors, decode the Chef’s love-letter menu, and decide if you dare accept his bite-sized “tastings” before the dessert bites back."

Resident Evil Raccoon City Cinema

Start Feb 6 at Alamo Drafthouse locations you can watch a "free" horror movie as long as you buy a special Resident Evil inspired meal. This is all for the upcoming release of Resident Evil Requiem (Feb 27). Remember Sony owns the theater so it makes sense game coming out on their system might have special screenings. Read more about it online or below.

"Before Umbrella Corporation lawyers shut everything down, we’re opening the doors to Raccoon City Cinema. To celebrate the release of CAPCOM’s Resident Evil Requiem on February 27, Alamo Drafthouse is hosting a series of free victory screenings spotlighting films that share the franchise’s core obsessions: containment failures; creeping paranoia; and the terrible idea that someone, somewhere, thought this was all under control. Catch John Carpenter’s THE THING, THE RING, THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, and LONGLEGS back on the big screen Feb. 6th through the 27th. Admission is free with the purchase of a fully refundable food and beverage voucher, redeemable for snacks and non-alcoholic drinks at the screenings."
