Out Further: The Game Awards Desert Statue & Palm Springs Film Awards Will Honor Ethan Hawke & More

The Game Awards are trying harder this year. Taking place in just two weeks, Dec 11th, we have a mysterious statue related to the event out in Joshua Tree, California. The mysterious statue lights up at night and is open to the public to find. Host and creator of the awards, Geoff Keighley, posted an image on his social media using a What3Words address of “regal.inspiring.thickness.” Fans quickly deduced the location and found this bizarre statue, seen above. As of writing this, no one knows what game it's promoting, but there's endless speculation online.

On how to  find it IRL go here, it's a couple hours out of LA and you might want to spend the day in Joshua Tree at that point.

Slightly closer to LA, the film festival starts early next year with January's Palm Springs International Film Festival. They have their own Film Awards to hand out, so whose getting them? Ethan Hawke will receive the Career Achievement Award for all he's done in film. But, he won't be the only star getting an award. Michael B. Jordan will be getting the Icon Award. Leonardo DiCaprio is getting the Desert Palm Achievement Award. And, Adam Sandler will receive the Chairman’s Award.

But wait, there's more awards for groups. Director ChloƩ Zhao and cast members Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal will receive the Vanguard Award for Hamnet. And, Sentimental Value casts Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgard, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Elle Fanning (Predator: Badlands) get the International Star Award.
