GIRL LIKE ME Inspired By Akira

For whatever reason and no tie-in the latest music video from the Black Eyed Peas and Shakira is inspired by the well-known anime classic Akira. The anime film Akira has to do with psychic children and the destruction of Tokyo two more times. Well, really just a few parts deal with he anime, the rest is all over the place, but one thing is clear. Shakira is limber as ever, but Blacked Eyed Peas members can only flop their arms anymore.

Retro Game Camp Closed

Really sad to report that Retro Game Camp, the Japanese old school video game import store in Little Tokyo is closed with no sort of information if when it will reopen or if it'll ever reopen. Hopefully, it can come back one day. It closed back in October without really spreading the news. We just found out as Anime Jungle, the mega anime store, has closed it's door under the new stay-at-home orders just went into effect.

We just wrote about Retro Game Camp a year ago and what's it's like to work there.

A friend of the site just visited Game Dude and said there stock looks like it's getting low, probably due to the lack of visitors because of Covid.

Christmas Card Collection: Season's Beatings!

If you're a bad friend, lazy or just forgot there's still time to send out Christmas cards. When TTDILA does Christmas cards we look for only the ones we would like and not stupid puppies near a fireplace...maybe in the fireplace. No, we don't have that as an actual card, but here's some less violent ones.

$20.18 for 5 cards

We want to play this game, but will settle for just this Christmas Fighter postcard. Season's Beatings!

$6 for 1

Every Christmas needs a little Krampus. Remind your friends, maybe they've been a little naughty. And the Krampus looks so darn cute.

$4.50 for 1

A more simple reminder that a nightmare creature will come for you if you've been bad.

$5 - $21

We've cherished all the Glorp Gum holiday cards over the years. The can range from gross to totally commercialized nonsense. It's so hard to choose, but you really have such a large collection to inflict on others.

We sure do miss Eiga Fest and even the smaller Japan Film Fest, but, hey, we got a little something online to end the year. The also titled Japan Film Fest, but with the app like word of Plus is an online festival giving us ten days of Japanese films.  We're looking to the utterly strange Project Dreams - How to Build Mazinger Z's Hangar about having to design a fictional robot hangar for real and CAN'T STOP THE DANCING a musical comedy about a woman who goes into song and dance numbers when she here's any sort of music.

Adding onto the reoccurring solo show Scott Listfield held at G1988 over the years, focusing on the lost art of retail stores, he’s asked 50 artists to create work within the theme.
