Halloween Update: V/H/S and Outer Realms

V/H/S has it's one week run at the Nuarte starting Oct 5

Hero Complex has a good article about the creation of the film.
One of the cool posters created for the film, this one is from James Stokoe, whose run on a Gozilla comics pretty cool.

This scare factory has more interst as the have two killhouses. Killhouses let you shoot airsoft guns at zombies and monsters, so I wonder how much fun it is. There's 4 mazes and 2 scare zone, don't forget a bar.

This ones all the way near Orange County, but they seem to have the maze open year round. They actually had a Silent Hill maze prior to Universal making there's. I wonder how they differed. From the level I see on their site they seem like a premium haunting service.

Rebecca Sugar Leaving Adventure Time for Steven Universe Her Own Show

Details are scant, but Cartoon Network is getting two new cartoon series in 2013. One will be Rebecca Sugar's Steven Universe.

This is what's known so far about the upcoming show

"Sugar's Steven Universe is a coming-of-age story told from the perspective of Steven, the youngest member of a team of magical Guardians of the Universe."

I also wonder what might happen to the show if Natasha Allegri leaves if Puppycat and Bee gets picked up for YouTube series.

Rebecca's done some fan favorite episodes and come up with a lot of the songs within the show, hope to see more about the show as it gets closer to coming out.

Giant Robot Still Giant

Giant Robot had another great opening in Little Tokyo last Saturday. Hundreds of fans, dozens of artist and one man wearing a television came out the years and years of Giant Robot history. Work from many different artists are now encased on the first floor of the museum. Vinyl toys moded by many show all the differences in the artist that GiantRobot has covered. Upstairs artist like Deth P. Sun and Ako Castuera had much bigger sections with their work and were challenged to do more by owner and creator of Giant Robot Eric Nakamura. The art was accompanied by killer beats and food. Some food wasn't that edible and I don't mean that in a bad way. Catburger, the game where you create the fastest cat composed of burger parts had it's own photo section, so you yourself might become a sandwich of sorts.

Giant Robot has been part of LA's culture for some time now, not only finding and reporting on it, but creating it with both community action and the love of video games and arts. I always hope to see more from them. Seeing such fanfare and so many people come out really shows how much there apart of LA and I will continue to writing about all they do. Now here's plenty of pics from the event, but go see it for yourself.

Dead or Alive 5 Review Punches Lead To Explosions

Dead or Alive 5

(read as though a rap song)
I see them jiggling. I see them bouncing. I see them swaying, when I'm play'n.

Dead or Alive 5

(end of rap)
With the end of the rap it's the start of the review. Dead or Alive 5 is out now and unless you've been trapped under a rock or something heavy you should've known. It's got all the jiggling and fighting you could need. So put down Tekken Tag Tournament, that was two weeks ago, what are you old? You need to start playing some classic DOA.

For those new Dead or Alive series it has been around for a long time, by chance the movie based on it was playing the day before I got the game for review on my movie channels. Now I own the DVD too and as the other fighter movies like King of and Tekken based on game series go, it is the best one of the bunch. It was sort of a review of what the series is at it's core. Hot girls fighting each other, mix in some ninjas and a plot to make soldiers using stolen moves from the best fighters in the world and you have DOA. It's a delectable fighting game people have been loving for some time now and just like Tekken, Virtua, and Soul its got a nice update for a new generation. For all you fight fans plenty of the insane modes and extra, just like I reviewed for Persona 4 Arena. Come to think of it, if you love fighters its been your year.

Dead or Alive 5 is no exception to the year of the fighter by bringing back it's cast of busty babes who take on the roles of every porno actress, especially with unlockable outfits. You have dudes too and they all have different moves and fighting styles to beat the ever loving "luvin" out of each other. From the insane story, new graphics and action oriented backgrounds you have a brand new DOA to slowly pick away at. There's a new girl Mia and a bad boy named Rig to smash and jab with too.

Action, action and more action is what burst out of the screen in every match. These DOA fighters when not looking off and thinking as much as store mannequin make fights fun and explosive as Micheal Bay film, with a plot still better than any of his films.

For the fight fans you have multiple moves and styles to be perfected with each fighter, learning special moves for some of the more trained martial artists or ninjas. You might want Brad Wong who can pull off some spectacular moves with his drunken boxing style or why not try new fighter Mia's MMA fighter style. No? How about old school martial arts with Gen Fu or his student Eliot? Then how about some wrestling moves with Tina or her Dad, Bass. No? You're killing me here, or you would if you had the multiple ninja fighters from Kasumi to Hayabusa as your fighters. Then there's even more characters to unlock.

The new interactive stage have plenty of places to re-enact a Jackie Chan movie, be it a Jungle, Circus, Lab, Bar, but no space ship? Anyway just knock someone into steel girder or a propane tank and watch them fall or explode. This of course might not kill them so you can keep beating them to death. When you smash an opponent to another stage of some arenas you can attack them going down, but they might have a chance to block you.

DOA has you blocking by pressing down a button other than the old just the going back on your joystick and with high-middle-low kick and punches there's plenty of variation. You can of course side step for 360 attacks on your opponent. You'll be able to this through all the modes you fighters love with versus, which does have tag team now, missions, arcade, survival and of course spectator.

You might be spectating for dirty reasons as this game is all about very well endowed ladies. It's completely unrealistic, but so funny you can't not look. The design of some of the women or maybe all characters hits me more with their big anime eyes, they have creepy dolls eyes if you watch them in cut scenes. Voice acting is up there with the first Resident Evil game, but I'm guessing there really wasn't much of a story to begin with. Nice thump sound and impact sounds for hits though.

Japan storytelling isn't know for it's strong narrative or easy to follow logic and DOA's story mode could have been written by a five year old and made more sense. It's not hard to piece the time line together, but your not playing this game for the story. My favorite part has to be Tina running for Governor, I hope she wins!

Now DLC wise, it's seems like you'll just be getting costumes , but characters and stages are unlikely and none are planned for launch.

With power blasts, other worldly bouncing beauties and stages that would make Micheal Bay rev up his Transformer, DOA is one of the better fighters to pick up this year. Go kick butt and see boobies bouncing at the same time.

The video game was provided by the publisher for review.

Wii U Experience LA Thanks Nintendo

Nintendo!!!! What you planned over three days this September in LA and over these United States of America was just pure gaming goodness. From an extremely precise scheduling system, to ensuring everyone getting a chance to play and free cookies and chocolate mustaches I must say, "Great Job", here's a bunch of stickers. Just like the speed of getting people in for the Nintendo Conference, I attended for E3, your management skills of getting everyone in were just above the rest. No blazing hot sun and growing pains metaphor like the victims of Comikaze Expo for you Nintendo.

So how was it? After you got in and were greeted with high fives, the same way you left, you entered a almost blue Willy Wonka style room where everything was Nintendo. You could see Nintendo, play Nintendo and even eat Nintendo, that had Wii U cookies, the hash tag was a bit too much, but still good.

Experiencing the Wii U, made me want to get one outright. Games covering the walls and around corners let every group that was led in a chance to play something fun. They could dance to Dance Central or beat up jerks with Batman in Arkham City: Armor Edition.

Titles and titles galore with friendly staff explaining controls. Playing New Super Mario Bros Wii U was grand. You can help your friends by creating new platforms or taping enemies to knock them out. However, I abused this power and killed the other players by blocking them in and knocking shells into them. In another twist if you had a kid playing with you and want to be more part of the game, you could really help them out building platforms along the way. I hope to see a commercial like that.

Getting the fancy new controller in my hands again was like unwrapping a birthday present that you new wasn't clothes. It's light enough to hold for a while, but I could see a slim version of it. Drawing on it is like any other touch screen today and the clarity looks good. From the games that are party related it's function seems always that of the master or person behind the scenes. I'd like to see more that have you managing and just playing, but there's plenty of time.

Goin' into games again.,P-10, now The Wonderful 101 was a fun beast to tackle. Forming a super hero sentai group to take down huge enemies is another stroke of genius from Platinum Games. Mastering the controls were a bit odd, but being able to form a giant sword out of people to fight giant alien robots really makes your day.

Party games galore with Nitendoland! I tried at least three different titles that made me want to come back and try again. One game had you eating candy and getting fatter and fatter and someone with a fork chasing after you, it was one of many silly addictive titles. One included a version of tag, another the Luigi Mansion spin-off title where you hunt a ghost with a flashlight. Nintendoland is an instant party game and with up to five players and overload of fun.

Pikmin 3 was on non-stop line, but Scribblenauts had people creating whole bizarre creatures and many times Cthulu. People were active with the Wii Fit U and there was also Rayman Legends. I'm just sad there was no Zombi U demo to play. Oh, but Wario Ware was back and better than ever with beyond odd games like one which require me to photograph wrong-doers and another where arrows with Wario's nose were attached were flung at robots.

Nintendo didn't need to do the Wii U Experience for America, but it wanted to and that's the loyalty to fans that really counts. I'm just sorry there's no new racing game this year from them, it's going to be sad missing them at the LA Auto Show this year.

Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils Review

Main Site

You can get this game for cheap with a bunch of other indie titles here

Bunny Must die mixes funny anime elements and old school gameplay into a strange adventure platformer of a young girl trying to get rid of cat ears.

You know a game is trying to play with you when gaining the ability to go backwards is a unlocked moved or the the story centers around nuclear cat-splosions.So, story wise you play as Bunny whose been cursed with cat ears, so you'd think she'd be named Kitty, but no. Bunny must go on a quest gaining new abilities and powers and defeating seven boss bad guys to get her curse lifted.

Playing as Bunny you need to learn to jump, dodge and attack with different unlimited powers be it a saber, boomerang and so on all while tranversing odd backgrounds. I found it hard to get her to do moves. I'm not and avid PC gamer and work better with a game controller. On that the game really isn't for me

From what I could accomplish I could see a well built game with much to explore and a lot of small detail and extras. The game is funny with battles such as one where you take on a giant cat and have to mess up it's paws coming at you on screen. The game makes fun of itself and the world it's set in, which is refreshing from all the other titles that take themselves to seriously.

If you want to try a new platformer with a cute girl and Japanese anime humor then try out the demo and see for yourself.

"Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils, will be released for PC on October 2nd via digital distributors Desura and Gamersgate for $9.99 USD. Other distributors may follow. A Steam release of the game is being pursued via a Steam Greenlight page and will only be allowed on Steam if it receives enough positive votes. Rockin’ Android is actively seeking any and all support and encourages supporters to spread the word. "
