Mega64 Christmas Cast 2025 & MLK Week Compilation "The Room"

Mega64's annual food eating contest is ready for a Christmas watch. It's as charming as it is gross (there is vomiting). It's a crazy live event, now formatted down so you can enjoy, but probably go in on a light stomach. Probably one of our favorite Christmas traditions, hopefully they do bring back HanukkahCast, which had some fun Jewish nosh and games.

Coming out daily is a day-by-day break down dubbed Mega64's MLK Week Compilation "The Room". This was a horrible endeavor by Rocco, of the above comedy/gamer group Mega64. He essentially was stuck in a room live on Twitch for all of MLK week this year. He was at the mercy of the Internet and it was unkind. Constant memes and songs jutted out on the screen with a huge speaker he could not turn off and other chaos almost instantly drove Rocco mad. Now, you can watch it compiled into an hour for each day he was stuck inside "the room".

2025 Nishimoto World Gift Catalog & 2025 New Beverly Holiday Shirt

As always we love showing you our favorite gift catalog, the Nishimoto World Gift Catalog. It skimps on the English, but not the Engrish and never really seems to care. Really, some good looking goods to send to Japan from the US. And, some tasty looking treats to get here from Japan.

As per usual we grabbed some of the typos that the catalog seems to not care to fix.

There's still time to order, here.

Not as many mistakes this year, but they never want to seem to correct this one. As you can see with this delicious cut of "Born in Ham", not Bone in Ham. It's Born in Ham.

And, Santa Claus Favorite, not Santa Claus's Favorite or Santa Claus' Favorite. And, apparently that favorite is citrus fruit?

2025 New Beverly Holiday Shirts are out now, always love a new creepy Christmas design. This year the design comes from the artist known as Burrito Breath.

Holiday Round-Up: Hanukkah, Purrquoise Inspired, Oh. What. Fun. & Silent Night, Deadly Night

Look to your local Chabad's this Sunday for gelt drops for the first night of Hanukkah.

LAist has a nice list of venues and Chrsitmas movies to see for the rest of the month.

LA Daily News straight up tells it like it is and gives you a list of places to go with those jerks...we mean relatives.

We hate the dubbed "Purrqoise", now seating pretty in The Getty that looks very much like the cat demon in KPop Demon Hunters. But, The Getty and public seem to love it, so they've made holiday inspired merch.

Purrquoise Inspired

Oh. What. Fun. is a perfectly good Christmas movie that still gets a PG-13 with getting that one saying of F**k in. Claire Clauster (Michelle Pfeiffer) literally gets forgotten this Christmas and then ditches her ungrateful family for the mysterious and foreign land of Burbank. Just head to Prime.

Hallmark Geometric Tree on Silver Foil Cards Are The Ugliest Cards of The Season

We're starting a little bit before Thanksgiving to report on probably the ugliest cards of the season. We'll be reporting on some Hallmark Channel Christmas movies and one Hanukkah movie in the coming weeks, but we had to present these eyesores before then. Hallmark, what happened? Whose to blame? Geometric Tree on Silver Foil Cards sounds as fun as the card itself. Yes, brighten up your home, friend or family's home with cards that look like a French artist's work that despises you.

This is possibly the saddest card I've ever seen.

So, so, so many problems from the lack of any taste to the waste of silver foil for a rainbow shine. It's like a sci-fi computer from a 70's movie dreamt up this mess. It was programmed what a Christmas tree would look like, but had no reference for a pine tree, Earth or what Christmas is.

It's almost like a symbol of Negative Christmas...I'm not even sure what that is. The taking away of Christmas time and memories or the idea to negate it? But, this is easily that symbol.

No details as to whom the artist is and I think it's best as they would be ostracized for just how wrong this is.

This might be the rare card you give as an FU to someone. Like, you can't outright say you don't like them, but the card says it all.

 HOLIDAY MARKET

Arrive early to shop, drink, and rub elbows with your fellow Krampus-fanciers.  Food and craft vendors will be open throughout the event.

 KRAMPUS ATTACK!

Soon after the last tuba note fades, an unholy clanking and clattering will arise. Those at a safe distance will soon see horns waggling over the crowd. The brave and foolish on the frontline will feel the swat of switches as the stomping, snarling devils of KRAMPUS LOS ANGELES ATTACK, out in full force NOTE: They’re friendly to photo requests (assuming you’ve been good this year). But beware the towering black goat-demon, Habergeiss!

Dec 13 from 7pm to 9:30pm
Philosophical Research Society (PRS) 3910 Los Feliz Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027
LIMITED PARKING. Small venue lot. Limited street parking nearby.
$28.52

Join us for an evening celebrating everyone’s favorite Alpine monster, with author and Krampus expert Al Ridenour and friends. Ridenour is the author of The Krampus and the Old Dark Christmas (Feral House, 2016), the only in-depth English-language study of the folkloric creature. Now in its second printing, it has been praised by critics including the LA Times’ Elizabeth Hand, who found the book “gleefully erudite,” remarking that it “deserves to become a classic.”  He’ll give an illustrated presentation each evening revealing how the often-misunderstood figure of the Krampus is connected to centuries-old witchcraft beliefs and an older, darker understanding of the Christmas season as a time offering access to the spirit world.

Winter Fest OC: A Magical Holiday Escape in Costa Mesa

By Eric Harris

Winter Fest OC 2024 - Ice Skating

When you think of winter in Southern California, bikinis and sun-soaked beaches might come to mind. However, nestled in Costa Mesa, Winter Fest OC magically transforms the OC Fair & Event Center (commonly known as the Orange County Fairgrounds) into Southern California’s largest outdoor winter wonderland. Running from November 22 through January 5, 2025, Winter Fest OC is like a miniature OC Fair sprinkled with holiday magic.

Winter Fest OC 2024

From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by a flurry of holiday cheer. This event boasts an array of attractions including an outdoor ice-skating rink under the stars, cozy fireside igloos, a snow play area perfect for children, a 150-foot Snowflake Summit ice tubing slide, and the chance to capture memories with Santa. With 26 carnival rides, a dazzling light show, deep-fried fair cuisine sure to make your cardiologist cringe, and festive decorations, Winter Fest OC offers dozens of winter-themed photo ops.

Winter Fest OC 2024 - Snowflake Summit Ice Tubing

Parents of younger children will particularly appreciate the dedicated 8,000 square foot snow play area with snow slide and snow carousel, as well as a section of the carnival featuring rides designed for kids shorter than 42 inches. The picture opportunities are delightful, with interactive scenes, characters, and unexpected decorations like a holiday gorilla adding to the whimsy.

Winter enthusiasts and parents alike are sure to enjoy Winter Fest OC. You'll leave with fantastic photos and happy, entertained kids. To get the best value, purchase your tickets online—ticket prices at the gate can be double the online rate. If you're bringing children, consider adding an Unlimited Carnival Ride Wristband or upgrading to the Ultimate Experience Admission. Although ticket prices might be higher than expected, a trip to Costa Mesa is much more convenient than a trek to the mountains, and it doesn’t require snow chains. Experience winter without the hassle of mountain driving right here in OC. Make sure to check out our photo gallery below to catch a glimpse of the festive magic and snowy fun that awaits!
