Barbara T. Smith: Xerox 914, an exhibition of  works by Los Angeles-based artist Barbara T. Smith, on view in the MAF Library. Adventurous guests are invited to experience more than 20 exhilarating speed, tube and body slides; catch a wave at Tidal Wave Bay, a state-of-the-art wave pool where the surf crests over four feet high or dare to take a rip-roaring raft ride on The Wedge. For those who want to chill out, they can float down Sunset River, a 1,780-foot, slow-moving waterway that is one of the longest lazy rivers in the country. And over at Gremmie Lagoon, little swimmers can jump and splash around on an interactive water-filled playground.

Archipelago of Earthen Bones, which is part of Szlam's larger research project Towards a Counter-Cartography of Volcanic Time, traces cartographies of time rooted in the geologic formations of our planet. Examining volcanic lifespans to comprehend geology, the three-channel video and sound installation recognizes the divergent nature of the timescales around us. From split-second catastrophic ruptures to the slow-moving formation of mountains, Archipelago of Earthen Bones invites viewers to lean into time.
