Anime Expo 2019 Update: The modern manga and anime industries would not exist without Attack on Titan.

"Journalism" pic.twitter.com/0msuML0dAR

— Jacob (@largehotcoffee) June 18, 2019

We're gonna see this as cosplay and at a desk with someone asking to disprove it. So a quote you might see around on the internet and you might hear or see at AX this year is about how Attack on Titan was the most important anime for the manga and anime industry. Oh, and it made Crunchyroll the powerhouse it is today. Which is absolutely not true.

Here it is again in case you have some feature blocking Tweets :

The modern manga and anime industries would not exist without Attack on Titan. Without Hajime Isayama’s dystopian series and its massive, global fan base, Crunchyroll would’ve remained a curiosity instead of the global streaming powerhouse and anime production partner it has become.

It's being made fun of with replacing Attack on Titan with any anime or reference of your choosing in social media. Try it out for yourself.

The modern manga and anime industries would not exist without Rocko's Modern Life.

Now, it comes from an article, the introductory paragraph from a Polygon post called 'The fascist subtext of Attack on Titan can’t go overlooked." The article itself has nothing to do with proving Attack on Titan "being the one" anime to make the industry big or making Crunchyroll big.

It reeks of poor writing an a lazy editor who didn't care or doesn't know enough about anime to let that intro paragraph go up with the statements following being about fascism.

We'll be buying shirts of this if they're at AX this year.

Oh, and that powerhouse Crunchyroll, you know the one who only got that great because of Attack on Titan has a special activity space, Crunchyroll HQ. Read more about it here.
