ONE PIECE Night @ Dodger Stadium July 3rd

We're having a sort of repeat of the Hololvie Night from last year, just as Anime Expo comes in. This time we have ONE PIECE Night @ Dodger Stadium. Just like having to choose over a child to save from a burning building, you must choose to go to Anime Expo's Opening Day or get your butt to Dodger Stadium. It is a night game, so you could do both. Go to Dodgers.com for tickets.

Here's the best parts from the press release:

The Los Angeles Dodgers and legendary anime studio Toei Animation have announced an official partnership agreement that establishes a one-day stadium promotion for the global hit series ONE PIECE. The planned ONE PIECE Night will take place on Thursday, July 3 for the Dodgers’ 7:10 p.m. game against the Chicago White Sox.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Los Angeles Dodgers to bring the global hit series ONE PIECE to Dodger Stadium on July 3 for a very special one-day promotion,” said Lisa Yamatoya, Senior Director, Head of Marketing at Toei Animation Inc. “We invite fans to join us for ONE PIECE Night, which will offer a truly memorable, one-of-a-kind entertainment experience, complete with a not-to-be-missed ONE PIECE drone show after the game!”

During ONE PIECE Night at Dodger Stadium, which will include a variety of ONE PIECE (experiences) in and around the stadium, the Dodgers will give away ONE PIECE co-branded straw hats to the first 40,000 ticketed fans in attendance, while supplies last, at the guest’s point of entry.  Following the game, ONE PIECE Night will conclude with a special drone show featuring fan-favorite characters from the series.

The premiere horror convention of LA is upon well before Halloween. This is our biggest horror convention we have all year with a huge amount of exhibitors, guest and all kinds of spooky stuff.

Sure, we get other ones, but the sheer size of this one, jeez. Be careful as lines can stretch and it might be hard to get into if you just show up.

5/30/2025 8:30 pm
Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre 5919 Franklin Avenue, Los Angeles, CA
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the show

Have you ever had an encounter with a ghost? An alien? A kid you were babysitting who is maybe just spoiled BUT PERHAPS WAS ACTUALLY POSSESSED?! Each show, we let real audience encounters with the unexplained inspire a completely improvised fever dream, the likes of which has never been seen before, will never be seen again, and perhaps… shouldn’t be seen again because some of that stuff was deeply unwell. I mean don’t get me wrong, it was funny, but I really hope they’re in therapy.

May 31 to June 15, 2025
210 East Main St. Alhambra CA 91801.
Art will be viewable online starting June 1 at 12:01 AM.
For access to an early online pre-sale of the exhibition on May 30, See our Patreon for more details.
$5 admission, with RSVP opening day May 31 (Details coming soon!)
FREE admission, no RSVP from June 1 to June 15

"THIS YEAR ADVENTURE TIME CELEBRATES ITS 15th ANNIVERSARY!!! This legendary series made waves in the entertainment industry and pop culture. It was aired on Cartoon Network, ran for 10 seasons, and currently has the spin off series Fionna & Cake airing on Max. In celebration of this Mathematical achievement join us for an Adventure Time / Fionna & Cake Tribute Exhibition!"

We've got scant details on the artists and what's exactly happening, but Nucleus know how to treat Adventure Time right. Can't wait to see who'll be there and what is shown. In any case, happy to see a celebration from one of my favorite shows.

What Anime Riverside also does right is having fun fan anime panels. While, they're not getting the creators of your favorite anime, because they live in Japan and traveling here costs a lot more, they're coming up with great competitions for fans to get into and win prizes.

This time around we've got more than 50 films for you to sadden your day from around the world and with multiple special guests. Oh, and six of the films were restored to make you just feel bad. Some of which have sadly, already sold out.

Oh, yeah, Dogtooth, cancer and so many Nazis. It's very hard to be upbeat, but it makes sense that a lot of the subject matter and any film from Yorgos Lanthimos isn't gonna be filled with puppies for this film festival...unless those puppies are murdered.

Take your time and some tissues and go through the list for a whole new tearjerker or classic humanity at it's worst film.

Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #8 Just Grab It

Do yourself a favor and starting reading Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu. The latest issue (#8) with art from Devmalya Pramanik is just drenched in a wonderful moon light glow. This newest issue has Moon Knight dealing with an evil enchanted sword and having his soul bound to it in chains. What is done so well is having panel after to panel made out of chains as well. Just start grabbing issues or wait for a collection.

Jed Mackay has been writing Moon Knight better than any Marvel series on Disney+. And, it feels like ever new arc is a new season. Because, its been the same writer for many issues now, the story flows so well from arc to arc. We're seemingly getting to the end of a magic drug scandal that's cost our hero he's hideout, a living nightmare creature that actually made a really nice outreach center for the community. Hey, it's a strange comic.

Watch Moon Night deal with all kinds of crazies and nonsense under a writer perfect for the character and an artist that makes him glow.

Look At These Little Sh*ts: New Harry Potter Cast

The new HBO Harry Potter series has cast the roles of Harry, Ron and Hermione and just look at these grinning little f*cks. Just look at these little sh*ts and know they'll be in the news cycle the rest of your life with their ups and downs and everything they do after Potter. If you want to learn their names early before hearing about their next movie or podcast or whatever we have in the future: Dominic McLaughlin is playing Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton is Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout is Ron "the man" Weasley.

Stranger Things: The New Batch, I mean these new actors will probably have their new show out next year.

I mean just look below at a Defeated Yamcha Pose-Off and the Edge-Lord Competition below.

These are just a few with the returning Super Saiyan Scream-Off! & Jojo Pose-Off we loved from last year. But, wait, there's even more like the “Notice Me Senpai” Tournament and the Guess the Anime Opening or Outro! panel. They have panels every hour so you can always sit down and be in awe of the fandom out there.

Oh, and let's not for get Anime Themed Wrestling is back outside. There's nothing quite like poorly costumed gentleman breaking each other. They even have a weekend long event of Red Light/Green Light from Squid Games.

Looking forward to this smaller anime convention with great fan vibes.

Sigh, Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair - Year 4 Is Soon Upon Us

As June Gloom is about to set in we just wanted to ease you into the uncomfortable of Bleak Weak-Year 4. Something we are in awe of. Usually a time of joy with graduations and the freedom of Summer, instead we find  the saddest array of films humanely possible. What is it that intrigues us so? So, many cinephiles forgo cinemas of upbeat action movies and instead wallow in tears. Who knows? We're just here to remind you to get ready to get sad.

Game Hype: Shroom and Gloom, Magical Nut Ikuno & Anomaly President

Dang it, we totally got sucked into this new card-based double-deck rogue-lite dungeon crawler. The demo is so worth a playthrough. Shroom and Gloom is coming out from Devolver Digital at some point. We'll give you a heads up when we see a release date.

Magical Nut Ikuno is getting away with a lot. Read more about it over at Sora News.

It looks remarkably fun, just probably not the best time for adding President to a title of your video game. The whole concept of having little creature be your campaign team on top of fighting is ridiculous.  Anomaly President doesn't have a release date.

We’ve been screening some strange and obscure 16mm rarities over the last few years, but now it’s time to get even weirder with some of the most bizarro shorts ever committed to celluloid. With weird-ass films from the 1930s – 1980s, we’ve scraped the bottom of the barrel for the most insane smattering of mimes, dancing CPU units, talking animals, kiddie anger management musicals, and monkey bands.

The young Amiko is obsessed with her classmate Aomi, a cool soccer player (and Radiohead fan) with whom she goes on a short, but memorable stroll through the park. There begins a fixation that carries over the entire school year: a period during which Amiko dare not speak to the boy, though he fills her every waking thought. So when he dares run away to the big city, Amiko becomes determined to find him, and tell him how she really feels – in other words, stalk him, on a journey that will take them from banal Nagano to the busy, anonymous streets of Tokyo.
