Cannibal Holocaust 4K Premiere @ Beyond Fest Sunday

Mimi the Cannibal Girl by Utomaru x Tomenosuke

What might be tame compared to Terrifier and other torture porn like horror of today, Cannibal Holocaust 4K is premiering at at Beyond Fest this Sunday. Coming out in 1980, but a disgusting mess of ideas and sleaze from the 1970's, Cannibal Holocaust is one of the earliest notorious films for going well over the line with violence, sex and rape. If you want to judge it for yourself, here's your chance and on the big screen.

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST — UNCUT

October 05 • 09:30 PM
Aero Theatre
$19

World Premiere of New 4K Restoration courtesy of Bob Murawski’s Grindhouse Releasing

"Deep within the heart of the Amazon, a rescue mission uncovers a chilling discovery: reels of raw footage left behind by a vanished documentary crew. Their original quest was to investigate rumors of cannibalistic tribes—but what they captured on film reveals something far more horrifying than legend. Blurring the line between fact and fiction, this controversial cult classic shocked audiences worldwide with its brutal realism and unflinching critique of Western exploitation. Banned in over 50 countries and still notorious decades later, it remains one of the most provocative and unsettling films ever made."

CloverPit Review: Let's Go To Hell Together, It's So Charming

 By Jonathan Bilski

Gotta pay the debt, gotta boost the bells, why are these drawers all bloody! Wait, how long have I been playing? CloverPit is a new rogue-lite from Future Friends Games, which omniosuly appears on screen with a musical tinge as you start the game to warn you, "Uh-oh." Totally addictive, just like real gambling with graphics from a PS2 game, you'll want to keep playing even after falling to your death multiple times.

A slot machine with so much more going for it. CloverPit's game/story has you trapped in a cell with a floor that can open up at the bottom and send you straight down. To get out of this weird dire you've go to play a slot machine and get matching patterns of different symbols. You know... like a regular slot machine. It sounds kind of boring until you get the look of the game. And...how creepy it is your trapped in this room.

Like out of a horror movie, or the coolest horror-themed one room apartment in NYC, you're in a "stylish" place you shouldn't be. You've got an ATM built into the wall to pay back your debt that goes up every round and give you some interest back. Posters explaining in real time how your odds have changed and a mini market of strangeness behind you.

Someone cracked open a glossary from Katamari Damacy up in here as you get a huge collection of charms to boost and change your score. It really reminded me of the collection section from Kamari game where you can see each an every item with a footnote. This game has that too, see below. You earn tickets to buy the charms and you'll need to figure out the best way to use the charms together to get out. Love all their designs and different abilties. These disgusting and cool looking doodads sit upon your shelf next to your slot machine and I kind of want them all like Labubus. Little dolls, chili peppers, weird demonic statues and many, many others charms are there to help you. And, would look great on your desk.

Visually the game has a retro early computer game vibe that easily could have been made to have looked as realistic as possible, but in no way would have been as appealing as it is right now.

Some of them can only be used so much before they expire and when they expire from use or are thrown out to make room, the game makes you feel it. Not sure if there meant to be alive, but everything bleeds when it's gotten rid of and makes a nice little reminder squelching sound as it goes.

Trying to figure out the best combo with them and unlocking more make the game a treat for the rogue-liter in you.

Game-play may vary based on what you unlock or choose to do, but basically you have three rounds
before having to reach a deadly deadline. Not enough coins, go in the hole! You'll have three rounds of spins of three to seven (your choice) and you'll try and reach the amount needed to live.

Now you can earn more money and pay right away for an award bonus like more tickets for the charm shop or bide your time and earn more for later deadlines.

Each deadline gives also gives you a phone call that gives you some kind of bonus or can help your
game and a restock of the charm store.

When you finally hit a Jackpot and the variations on it, that dopamine hits high. You'll just want to earn more.

For this review I was totally addicted to this game once I started playing. After getting back home from a party and having a free day I totally got lost in it for hours over the weekend. After each death and a new mechanic being added I wanted a little more to finally unlock that door! More unlocks are just around the corner, you just gotta keep playing and I guess sacrificing charms. Those charms are just so charming and so is CloverPit, grab it now!
*Hopefully the game is success and Fangamer or some other company makes a CloverPit charm bracelet and keychain.

CloverPit is out now on Steam.
10% discount until October 10

Anime/ Cartoon Hype: Bye-Bye Panty & Stocking, Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, Haha, You Clowns & Genndy Tartakovsky's The Black Night

The latest Panty & Stocking was horny and stupid as ever and left us on another cliffhanger. There's another season in the works, but when we get it and where, who knows. Gonna miss those slutty angels. All episodes are up on Prime.

Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 was announced for Oct 29th, because you know Star Wars and Halloween are like brothers? A great new anthology of anime based on Star Wars. Oh, and look Trigger, the folks behind Panty & Stocking did an episode for it.

Oh, hats off to whomever got the disc to looks like two shiny golden balls. Great packaging for the  DAN DA DAN Season 1 - Collector's Edition Blu-rays.

Haha, You Clowns has come out on Adult Swim, if you've been watching the short online... well, it's Adult Swim.

Genndy Tartakovsky's The Black Night looks awesome; he also has to pimp it out and show people a clip of it because it's not done. That's right, this movie isn't even made or in production. Even with the clout of being one of the most celebrated animators of our time he hasn't had this film green lit. He literally is showing it off to make people to ask for it. Sony or really any studio willing to pay, just get this movie out there.

A four part series of screenings and conversations with writers and producers who have collaborated with SCA alumnus George Lucas to create one of the most important expressions of global popular culture of all time. Founding Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno Ocampo, and Ted Braun, Joseph Campbell Endowed Chair in Cinematic Ethics, examine how the Star Wars films and series created by George Lucas have explored, articulated and shaped global ideas of war, justice, and democracy in the 21st century. Accompanying screenings of four major pillars of the Star Wars canon, the program will offer analysis by Ocampo and Braun in conversation with writers, directors, and producers from the Star Wars universe. The program explores how these films and series connect emotion with thought - connect the human lives of characters with institutional ideas of justice and democracy that transcend borders.

And a reminder, Mina the Hollower comes out on Halloween, Oct 31, 2025. The next one from Yacht Club Games has you doing Castlevania-like action and more in the form of an adorable mouse. Oh, and it looks like the greatest 8-bit Game Boy Color game you've ever played. I'm sure this will make people think, "Wait, wasn't this part of my childhood." The answer is no, your childhood was never this cool!

"The Indie Horror Showcase returns in 2025 for its third annual installment. A chilling initiative from horror maestros DreadXP, in partnership with The Media Indie Exchange, the showcase is a celebration of the seemingly endless creativity, passion, and ideas that consistently extend the boundaries of the world’s most imaginative and self-reflecting genre in entertainment. Having wrapped up submissions just late last week, the teams involved are ready to announce that the Indie Horror Showcase is premiering on October 23rd at 10 am PDT."

The Indie Horror Showcase is a nice reminder all the horror game coming out this fall season. Great to see what will keep you scared and cozy into Christmas or next year.

Black Phone 2 only in theaters October 17th.

Director Scotty D is back for another fun outing with our favorite new Freddy. I'm not sure why we always seem to forget just like Freddy Kreugger that these child murderers are also child rapists and it makes it even weirder that he appears on cans of Fanta. But Freddy was so on so much merch on his heyday.

Synopsis: As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, his sister begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake.

Shelby Oaks is in theaters October 24

A new horror from writer/director Chris Stuckmann and executive producer Mike Flanagan.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story, October 3, 2025. Only on Netflix.

Maybe we should have put this with the Chain Reactions trailer, because without this psycho well we would have Psycho and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's hard not to see the trailer and thin there will be some sort of Murderverse where all of histories worst murderes team-up or something. Let's hope they don't.

Reminds us of lasts years X-Mas Guide though, here's a highlight:

$25.07

Things aren't right. Especially not for Eddie Gein. He's the reason we have Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. It's based on him. And. because Eric Powell, known for The Goon comic, is into messed-up stuff, he was the perfect fit as artist for this book sharing Eddie Gein's very unsettling life. There's masks made out of human faces and I'll stop there.

From Netflix "Serial killer. Grave robber. Psycho. In the frozen fields of 1950s rural Wisconsin, a friendly, mild-mannered recluse named Eddie Gein lived quietly on a decaying farm – hiding a house of horrors so gruesome it would redefine the American nightmare. Driven by isolation, psychosis, and an all-consuming obsession with his mother, Gein’s perverse crimes birthed a new kind of monster that would haunt Hollywood for decades. From Psycho to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to The Silence of the Lambs, Gein’s macabre legacy gave birth to fictional monsters born in his image and ignited a cultural obsession with the criminally deviant. Ed Gein didn’t just influence a genre -- he became the blueprint for modern horror."

Collecting fragments of the world with her camera for reuse at a later date, her eye documented the contemporary Los Angeles urban landscape of advertising and billboards, social events such as the effervescent and carnivalesque processions of the college’ s Mary’s Day celebrations, dolls and puppets, flowers, and many other often-overlooked moments of everyday wonder.

A surreal slice of birth-horror, Yukihiko Tsutsumi's (2LDK & FORBIDDEN SIREN) EGG blends elements of psychological thrillers and creature features in an effort to deconstruct sensitive themes such as women's traditional roles in society–all while creating an uncomfortable atmosphere of mounting dread that will be sure to stick with viewers long after their first-time viewing.

Did We Come Back From The Historical Spooktacular Tour?

Or are we ghosts now? No, no corporeal.

In its 2nd year, the Historical Spooktacular Tour gained our attention, so we headed out to Riverside to see how spooky it was. Why not try out horror experiences a little further out from LA? What we found was a tour to be a mix of ghost stories, heavy architectural interest and a fun bit of visiting its catacombs with hard hats.

Thursday-Sunday 6pm 8pm
The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa
3649 Mission Inn Avenue
Riverside, CA 92501
$55 per Person
$65 VIP 10pm, comes with a drink a the bar
40-45 minutes
*There's plenty of public parking within walking distance of the hotel
*Enter the lobby of the hotel and look for the Tour Ambassador at their own desk
*You'll have to sign a waiver to go into the catacombs

-We recommend going when it's actually night. It's still a little early to be starting at 6pm, so check when it's sunset.

First off, shout out to our Tour Guide Valentin, he was spouting every ghost story with panache, told us about the architecture's history of the hotel with style and reminded us to keep it safe. Always watch your step! You don't know who you might be stepping on.

The tour, that is spooky, mainly shows you around the hotel and various places perfect for getting married at. Adding, bits of stories of passing dead daughters and to watch out for plates in the kitchen flung by ghosts. More of a history lesson on the hotel, it keeps it a bit scary by adding complaints of certain rooms and ghost sightings on where you walking past.

Some guests on the tour say they stayed in one of the "haunted" rooms talked about on the tour, but didn't even know it. Nothing scratching on their door in the middle of the night, no lights flickering when they tried it out.

This somewhat spooky, historical tour, has a nice bit of gab on areas of the inn you might never venture too. Never were we bored as we didn't expect so many hidden features from the outside. Honestly, this is just a good place to grab a nice dinner.

The best kept secret on our course would be the catacombs or tunnels beneath the hotel. Just past a wedding or some sort reception, we crept into the Earth. Donning hard hats and handy flashlights we made our way through the darkly lit tunnels with a few surprises hidden here and there. Wandering around it, there's nothing quite like being in your on horror movie and being there feels like it. Another lesson on most of the tunnels being boarded up in the 80's, but reaching all over town; it was the scariest place of the whole tour. It's where you want to grab your photos and they gave you plenty of time to do so.

Afterward, we went to grab some coffee nearby, though you can enjoy one of the many different restaurants or bars at the inn. We ended up at Back To The Grind and they were holding a fundraiser show, we headed out to the back to see what it was about, but found out we also had to venture below. Yes, like many restaurants and buildings around town they have a basement of secrets. It looks like so much of Riverside is buried, but it needs to be dug up to enjoy it.
