Halloween 2025: World Market, Good Boy, Fanta & Spooky Setlist

Jeez, sigh, we're gonna have to do the Halloween Guide soon... For now, let's just have an update as we ease into September.

Fanta's horror movie themed cans are supposed to be out Sept 2nd. Chucky has a new flavor (fruit punch), “Chucky’s Punch,” but, Freddy Fazbear, The Grabber (Black Phone 2) and Micheal Myers are just on specially marked cans. Villainous android Megan is just gonna be an image change up in theaters serving Grape Fanta, no cans for her.

World Market's Halloween section has been up and running for a while now. You might want to grab stuff early as our supply chain seems so messed up right now.

We know we shouldn't, but we're totally in for the horror movie from a dog's perspective, out in theaters in October. Good Boy is out Oct 3rd. Apparently, looking up if the doggo survives was trending when the trailer first dropped.

And, Target has an exclusive glow-in-the-dark vinyl just for Halloween out today. Spooky Setlist has the following songs:

 Description

3. Heads Will Roll - A-Trak Remix (Radio Edit) – Yeah Yeah Yeahs
4. Maneater - Nelly Furtado

Caught Stealing Cat & Posters

Caught Stealing is the latest film from Darren Aronofsky, out this weekend, and apparently has a cat starring in it that goes by Tonic in real life. He was "driving" a car at the NY Premiere in a leather jacket. It's set in NY, so not really our subject matter...but, that cat and the delicious black and white poster make us want to check it out.

The four-film Female Prisoner Scorpion cycle charts the vengeance of Nami Matsushima (Meiko Kaji, Lady Snowblood), who becomes an avatar of survival and an unlikely symbol of female resistance in a male-dominated world. Spiritually akin to Ms. 45, Coffy, and The Bride Wore Black, Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701 (the first film in the cycle) introduces Nami—a gullible, unjustly imprisoned woman who must find a way to escape and exact revenge upon the man who betrayed her. Featuring stunning pop-art compositions and ultra-violent outbursts, it’s easy to see why this movie was a direct inspiration for Uma Thurman’s character of “The Bride” in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill.

Ultraman @ Dodger Stadium Aug 26

In the wonderfully Engrish event simply titled Ultraman vs Baltan Dodger Stadium, a famous Japanese superhero will be celebrated at Dodger Stadium Aug 26th.

Not sure how many people know about the Ultraman series outside of Japan, but he's up there with Power Rangers over there; a childhood superhero who fights giant monsters. The "Ultra" series has been around for decades and a new Ultraman comes out every couple of years.

Here's what happening at tonight's game:

"The event will kick off with a pre-game photo opportunity in CenterField Plaza, where fans can meet Ultraman in person and capture the intergalactic moment.  Baseball will meet superhero action when Chairman of Tsuburaya Fields Holdings, Hidetoshi Yamamoto, takes the mound along with Ultraman and Alien Baltan, to throw the ceremonial first pitch.  Fans can expect special themed entertainment throughout the game, such as a themed Ultraman Fan Cam, which invites fans to demonstrate their best Ultraman poses on the DodgerVision screens." via

Jason Universe Logo, The F*ck Is This?

By Jonathan Bilski

Just look at those early PC game graphics

With a new prequel series on the way from A24 and the undead hockey mask-wielder having his own haunt at Universal this September for Halloween Horror Nights, Jason's ditching the 13th to be part of  everything leading up to Halloween & more. He's also back in a officially sponsored short film, "Sweet Revenge", up now for free from Angry Orchard. Orchard also put his likeness on special cans, out now; a fun thing to show off at Halloween parties. Funny, as any fan of Jason knows his adamantly against, drinking, drugs and premarital sex. This collaboration reminded another friend and myself of the new logo of Jason Universe as we watched the short.

We immediately hated the logo.

I forgot about it from the Universal announcement of the new Friday the 13th haunt or as they so terribly named it just, "Jason Universe." Which really doesn't tell you much other than Jason is there. It's the first time I remember seeing the logo, thinking it sucked and moving on with my day.

But, encountering it again and seeing it had a stupid little video, I realized how ugly it was.

I mean who thought this looked good? The name is terrible, it implies a multiverse or other timelines. Why not simply go with the iconic name of the movies like Friday the 13th Studios or Camp Crystal Lake Studios or just Camp Crystal Lake Original. Hatchet productions, Hocky Mask Inc...

The switch of some of the UN1V3RSE  letters with the 1 & 3 for Friday the 13th is as clever as the title of the M3GAN or it's sequel M3GAN 2.0, because we know how well that went. But it just looks like a mistake at first.

Just going over how it looks, the graphics look dated like a PS1 game and it's hard to read. I get the style choice, but it just doesn't work. There could have been so many other depictions of how this looked.

Here's three examples I snagged from Amazon from various products.

And, I'm guessing no artist is named on purpose because one wasn't used or if so, didn't want their name attached to it. I don't see @CorySchmitz saying he made it, because I doubt he could make something look that bad and if he did actually make that logo, it would look so much better than the turd above. I hope him or @CreepyDuckDesign reads this and either redesign it for fun or better yet are paid to make a better logo.

But, then I was reminded this isn't actually a studio logo, this is just a logo to remind you it's part of the official Jason brand. Reading up on it from IGN and BD it's much more weird.

So, the rights for Jason and the films series had major problems and got resolved for the new upcoming show. From what I gather the people behind those rights are Horror, Inc.. Horror, Inc for whatever reason doesn't want to use their logo for things they make or I guess control or manage the rights to and instead use the ugly JASON UN1V3RSE logo instead.

It's a way to say this is an official product of the brand. A brand that is sadly called JASON UN1V3RSE.

You may have noticed certain sci-fi shows have a logo animations that play before official shows like Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who. This is a somewhat new thing as it's not the show's opening or title and not a logo for the studio that makes it. Like, Marvel Studios or the animation of stars forming around a mountain for Paramount before you watching something they've made. It seems to just be a reminder your watching something part of a brand. Though, I'm not sure why you need to be informed of that for any legal or informational reason. I think it might just be a fun little thing they do now without much of a point.

I'll give props to Horror, Inc. for having a dedicated site simply called jasonuniverse.com that keeps up with all things related to the Friday The 13th franchise. It's very similar to godzilla.com if you want to keep up with the giant radioactive lizard.

As to simply reiterate the logo and the reasoning behind it seems utterly strange in point and execution. Not entirely sure why it really needs to exist at all. Obviously, Friday the 13th should be the name of the brand unless there's some sort of legal thing that isn't explained. For fun it could be Camp Crystal Lake. And, whatever the name the logo should have never looked so utterly underwhelming.

Whose son made this?

Halloween Hype: Delusion: Harrowing of Hell, NOIR! A Hollywood Thriller & Elvira and Haunted Hayride Team-Up

We've got some interactive plays you'll be dying to be a part of.

First up, Delusion: Harrowing of Hell tickets go on sale 8/22, and it always manages to sell out, so you might want to order early. Delusion usally goes the hardest each year

Here's this year's synopsis:

"Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here

The famed inscription adorns the arched entryway leading into the belly of Pagan’s Path; a supernatural cult that has taken the metaphors of Dante’s Inferno far too literally, seducing followers through the circles of hell as a necessary preparation for the afterlife."

7:50pm on August:
21, 22, 23, 24
28, 29, 30, 31
(Additional 21 dates to be announced for our second location at LA Center Studios).
Heritage Square Museum
3800 Homer Street Los Angeles, CA 90031
$92.55

Until we hear the reviews, we're not sure how exactly this is a Halloween event, it's more of a murder mystery from what we've read, but the people behind do know how to put on a good interactive play.

"NOIR! a Hollywood thriller" is an original immersive experience from the creators of “Fangs!" and “Masq!”.

Experience a 1940s film Noir from the inside with the cast of hard-boiled detectives, femme fatales and gangsters.

Prepare to be separated from the people you came with and have a unique experience as you meet the people of old Hollywood on set. You may encounter performers one-on-one; you will traverse a world of haunted mansions and an abandoned church.

Get a jump on Halloween! Following last year's sold-out run of “Masq!", our team is bringing the world premiere of our original production "Noir!" to the spectacular Heritage Square Museum. Get your tickets early for an unforgettable Halloween experience!

Haunted Hayride and Elvira are teaming up this year, sort of like how Janelle Monae did from last year's collab. It's an odd move to see Elvira not at home at Knott's Scary Farm, but all the special Elvira touches are gonna change up the usual haunt.

She'll even be there in person some nights it seems.

Apparently, the hayride will have Elvira playing over it in different sections like an FM DJ host for a change of pace. She's getting her own haunt dubbed "Elvira’s Trick or Treat Mayhem." And, here spooky ugly poodle will be immortalized on the scary-go-round.

Diamond Select and Gentle Giant Dead

Hoo boy, didn't realize it, but it make sense. Diamond Select & Gentle Giant Ltd are dead. The makers of so many action figures, props and statues are gone as their corporate overlord Diamond Comic Distributors went bankrupt and the new owners just shut them down. This was pre-tariff problems too. Many are saddened that that both companies staffs were completely let go instead of possibly being restructured by new owner Ad Populum.

You can read more about it here and here. Reminded by Eric Goldman.

Art Deco, as the new modern style came to be known, was characterized by bold, symmetrical patterns, elongated forms and solid materials. The look found its way into the movies early on. In films such as Fritz Lang’s science fiction dystopia Metropolis (1927) and the Jazz Age Joan Crawford vehicle Our Dancing Daughters (1928), art directors and costume designers mobilized the streamlined elegance of the Art Deco look to evoke both the optimism and anxiety of the day.

Rudy Ray Moore is the Disco Godfather, a retired cop who runs a discotheque where he can be found in shiny, deep V-neck outfits and faux eyelashes as he hypes the crowd with his irresistible charm. This offbeat Blaxploitation feature follows the journey of Tucker Williams (Moore) as he traces some drug dealers after his cousin, Bucky (Julius J. Carry III), starts “tripping” on angel dust and is hospitalized. The anti-drug plot unfolds under the waves of a disco-infused soundtrack with exuberant visuals, mashed with kung-fu action. Disco Godfather may not offer much clarity, but it does promise an amazing—and sincerely weird—time at the movies.

This showcase explores how astronomy and image‑making have shaped one another from the 19th century to the present-day. Beginning with Jules Janssen’s 1874 Passage of Venus—photographs he called “drawn by the sun itself”—the program traces how telescopes, cameras, and later computers turned observations into scientific data and cinematic art. From Bernard Lyot’s solar footage to Carl Sagan’s Cosmos, these films reveal how techniques from sequential photography to digital simulation have transformed how we see, teach, and imagine the universe. Curated by Jane de Almeida, Adam Hyman, Jheanelle Brown.
