I Love You Dr. Zaius: Planet of the Apes Original Back On Screen July 24 & 27

Part of Fathom Events &TCM Classics on the Big Screen comes a tale as old as time where the earth gets taken over by some other creature and humanity becomes its slaves. First drafted by The Twilight Zone's Rod Sterling to go over the fear of nuclear war comes one of the strangest ideas of sci-fi, Planet of the Apes. It created a series of film that got a smaller budget each time until decades later when Tim Burton ruined it and then years later was remade.

Come back to a time when Charlton Heston looked like how we all feel about going outside. Where he plays an astronaut who gets stuck on a planet filled with murderous apes...and some really nice ones who treat him like a child; only made sillier as they sound British.

You'll meet a special someone named Dr. Zaius who will sit in judgement of this "man" and you'll have to question if in his rocking outfit would you really want to have to listen to some crazy shirtless man going on and on about everything being wrong?

As part of this special presentation, TCM host Ben Mankiewicz will provide exclusive commentary before and after the feature, offering an inside look at the out-of-this-world classic. He might be with a special someone, a doctor of sorts, to discuss the feature. The event will screen at more than 650 select movie theaters nationwide, four times only, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time each day, July 24 & 27.
