Coming from the same people who bring you Anime Expo is Cosplay Expo, specifically at The Japanese Garden. We've visited the luscious area before and it is the perfect venue to spoil cosplayers and photographers for shots. Though the staff at the garden may not understand what your doing they'll be nice to you.
There's no plans for booths or much else other than maybe a few workshops and a few food trucks. It's mainly about you having many location to shoot at. The local has many options, they even have a modern building inside that's been used by Star Trek TV series, perfect for those sci-fi shots.
