The Bird and the Bee Politely Thanked Their Fans At The Ace

Inara George wore a dress that looked like she grabbed a white table cloth that some kindergartners had used while painting. Greg Kurstin looked like he was out of an 80's music video. Together the duo made the audience at the Theater at the Ace Hotel swoon on Sunday night. Kicking off their show with "Polite Dance," a classic for fans of their work, the rest of the show was jokes and heartfelt thanks from fans for loving their work.

Inara (the bird) would pull off dance moves as she crisscrossed on stage, eventually pulling a guy on stage to dance with her to "F&*king Boyfriend". All the while Greg (the bee) jolted out tunes on his keyboard, never saying a word, he could talk, but wasn't mic-ed. Telling Inara to tell the audience, "My piano talks for me."

It talked a lot that night with a synced up light show that had a cascade of colors match Inara's dress. Some mic problems did have her words falter, but the audience of long time fans knew the lyrics.

Not all the lyrics, as the bird and bee sang and played songs from their yet unreleased next album, Recreational Love, out July 17. A nice surprise was a song devoted to LA, "Los Angles."

Los Angeles, with a la-la-la hum wasn't a song forsaking the city the duo formed in. It's a song that's relates on how the people of LA make it great. The Bird and the Bee happen to be those people, but humbly don't say it in the song.
