Why Is Ant-Man So Big?

I love Edgar Wright's work and it's already a done deal the movie will come out, but the trades are just going crazy. On a recent post by /Film it points out how Variety jumped the gun so fast about Micheal Douglas being involved they pegged hims as some unknown villain instead of playing the original Ant-Man Hank Pym. Paul Rudd will be playing Scott Lang, who stole his powers from the original Ant-Man.

Honestly, Micheal Douglas as Hank Pym? How does that seem like a good idea? I go back to the same /Film article quoting Kevin Feige:

"With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life."

I understand Hank Pym will have to be older, but from a comic book reader perspective it's a weird choice. Even going for a darker Hank Pym it's still an odd choice.

Overall, I'm just generally sick of the most minor of info getting headlines like that picture of the Guardians of the Galaxy. I care deeply to see how both these films turn out, but care little until a thoughtful write-up on some aspect of the films comes up.
