What We Do In Shadows Free Screening Feb 5

Asking for money on Kickstarter for screenings across America got a little stranger with the free screening of What We Do In Shadows at USC next week.

What We Do In Shadows
February 5, 2015, 7:00 P.M.
The Ray Stark Family Theatre, SCA 108, George Lucas Building lobby, USC School of Cinematic Arts Complex, 900 W. 34th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90007

Currently, the filmmakers Jemaine Clement & Taika Waititi are asking for $400,000 for an American release of their vampire comedy. The film will have a small release in New York and LA this February and comes to VOD at the same time. A mockumentary about vampires in New Zeland, they both star in and don't suck at their parts. If you have a chance, do see it. We loved it when it was shown at AFI Fest here in LA.

The problem is that they're asking for $400,000 when they have the option to negotiate with one of the many US distributors for a release it in the US. Instead of taking on any cost themselves or striking a deal with a disributor they want it all out of fan's pockets with no reward being a ticket to the American release that the money is being used for anywhere in the US.
