This weekend, we are screening an epic double header with Star Wars: A New Hope and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.  Before Star Wars: A New Hope came out in 1977 and caused a cinematic supernova, everyone in the industry thought that George Lucas had made a huge folly. The space opera genre was not considered an "A" movie genre at the time despite heroic efforts and hits by the likes of Stanley Kubrick.  But Lucas successfully tapped into an unconscious cultural yearning for a modern myth – a hero’s journey recast in a contemporary form that was both relatable and entertaining.

Opening reception is Saturday September 12, from 1-6pm PT
Copro Gallery, Bergamot Station Arts Complex, 2525 Michigan Ave, Unit T5, Santa Monica , CA 90404,
continues every Saturday in September, open to the public for viewing the art safely. Only 10 people will be allowed in the gallery at a time with social distancing and masks required.
