Movie Hype: Reflection in a Dead Diamond, 'Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die', Primate, The Furious & Kitchen Video

We have so many holiday films to dump on you already, but we'll wait until after Thanksgiving, thank you. Here's a few trailers and more on some films we're really looking forward to coming out soon or next year.

Above's Reflection in a Dead Diamond is out December 5 on Shudder. Oh my, this is James Bond on acid. The director's won me over with their crazy artsy flick Let the Corpses Tan. You can tell this husband and wife team are French from the get go. A delight for the eyes and perfect to get lost in, I'm willing and ready for whatever crazy they bring to the table and this time is what if James Bond got old.

Let's stay in the weird department with Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die. Sam Rockwell plays a man claiming to be from the future that takes diners of an iconic Los Angeles eatery hostage in search of people ready to fight to save the world. It's out February 13 - only in theaters. Gore Verbinski is a mixed bag, but a competent enough director, it seems like those Bioshock movie claims are lost in the sea.

This looks like pure cringe fun. Primate is about a pet monkey that goes crazy and starts killing teenagers. It's hard to screw up such a dumb plot. But, it is from director Johannes Roberts who sadly directed Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. Not a fan of his work so far. Out in theaters Jan 9th.

I have no idea when will be getting it either in theaters or streaming. Well Go USA, this seems right up your alley, but who know where this'll end up. What I can tell you is that everyone was won over by this Hong Kong Martial Art movie over at TIFF. The Furious, from the same guy who gave us the action in Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, sounds like it has the best martial arts stunts in years. Makes sense with his long career being a stunt coordinator.

It's got a good ol' revenge and recuse plot with an ordinary guy Wei (Tse) whose daughter is kidnapped, and with the journalist Navin's (Taslim) help, has to fight a criminal empire on the way to rescue her.

Reviews have already stated it isn't winning Oscars for writing, but action. Hehehehehe, it's gonna be the best.

Push XYZ Films to get it bought for the American home market.

Finally, the LA Times did an amazing piece on one man's private video store, called Kitchen Video. It has it's own membership cards and merch. And, just a great logo.

He was nostalgic for retro video stores. So he built one in his Silver Lake kitchen by Lisa Boone

I'm not sure if it's pretentious or just funny, but it's a video store out of a man's kitchen in Silver Lake that you can't go to unless your friends with him. The story doesn't even reflect what he currently does in the industry. Some people just have fun with cinema in LA and host some fun screenings over at their homes.
