The theme ties into the popular exhibition,  Fierce! The Story of Cats, and begins this Thursday, October 9 with The Shadow of the Cat (1961). The film and discussion series will take place in the new Commons Theater for three consecutive Thursday nights, featuring quirky and creepy cat movies and the curiously creative science behind them.

Each screening will be accompanied by a fun and lively conversation with experts, with this week’s event featuring a discussion with Karie Bible (film historian and Hollywood Forever Cemetery Tour Guide), and the Hollywood Heritage Museum’s Angie and Chris Schneider, who will share insights on the film’s history, dive into pet stories and Hollywood lore, and talk about cat representation and stigmas in media.

Additional activities will include lobby entertainment with the Kitten Rescue LA, other vendors and NHM experts, as well as a “Cake or Fake?” unveiling by Annabel de Vetten of Conjurer’s Kitchen. The evening will also feature extended hours to grab a bite at South LA Cafe.

The following two Thursday evenings will feature the classic cat-themed movies A Bucket of Blood (1959) and The Tomb of Ligeia (1964).
