Battle Royale Screening July 30th

 

Before your Hunger Games and Squid Games the Japanese had already made Battle Royale. Setting up the genre of teenagers who have to kill each other at the amusement for others in a dystopian future. It doesn't pull it's punches, it's just a brutal as any modern revision-ing of forcing people to battle to the death.

You can see it back on the big screen thanks to the Asian World Film Festival, which is not a film festival going on right now, it just doesn't have an orginzation formally behind it. It's like when BeyondFest sponsors movie showings when the festival isn't going on.
