GRAMMY-nominated orchestral collective Wild Up presents Arthur Russell’s minimalist disco masterwork 24 to 24 Music as part of the To the Fullest festival. Performed a number of times during Russell’s life, this open-form jam for ensemble, percussion, keyboards, and voices bridges the seeming chasm between the new music community of Downtown New York and the popular dance music of the Loft.

LA natives Beck and LA LOM will deliver a one-of-a-kind performance, blending surf-cumbia with moody, hypnotic jams. Inspired by their Lightscape scene at a Burbank donut shop, this Friday night activation channels the energy of late-night musical gatherings, weaving together psychedelic surf riffs, cumbia grooves, and experimental textures to transform the Theater Gallery into an immersive, living soundscape.
Has June Gloom come early? This one looks super sad and my pick to be added to Bleak Week, but sadly it's premiering in May...even though the name of the film is April. Sheesh.
Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, acclaimed director Dea Kulumbegashvili (Beginning) returns with her latest boundary pushing work, April. Skilled obstetrician Nina is accused of malpractice when a baby dies during delivery. The ensuing investigation threatens to expose Nina’s illegal sideline: offering abortions to local women. Nina remains fiercely committed to her patients, but she must walk a razor’s edge in order to survive as a pariah in a world which desperately needs her. Set against the backdrop of the starkly beautiful Georgian countryside, Kulumbegashvili’s prescient sophomore feature employs a mesmerizing visual and sonic language to create an immersive experience about the resilience of the human will.
It's opening May 2nd around LA.

When the hit podcast You Must Remember This was tackling the erotic thrillers of the '80s and '90s, creator/host Karina Longworth curated a lineup of those films at the AC. Now Karina is back to present some very different "erotic" Hollywood content. This year's season, THE OLD MAN IS STILL ALIVE, covers 14 directors who got started in the 1920s, '30s and '40s, who were still making movies in the '60s, '70s and '80s in a much-changed Hollywood and culture.
