Upcoming Anime: KONOSUBA 3, Kaiju No. 8, Dan Da Dan, One Punch Man Season 3 & Suicide Squad Isekai

Anime is coming back in force this Spring with some amazing returning shows and some new ones we've been waiting for. Here's our top picks coming this Spring and beyond.

KONOSUBA -God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3
CrunchyRoll Subbed and Dubbed coming, April

Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin and Darkness are back to kick butt or really to get their butts kicked. This wonderful take on Isekai (reincarnated in another world) has been missing for far too long. At the heart of the show is just how funny it is by its selfish characters who are in no way you're normal protagonists. Though they've fought some extremely powerful foes at this point, we still think some starter enemies like giant toads could do them in. The humor and fan service make it required viewingand a wonder why it never got episodes on Adult Swim.

Let's all hope Kazuma doesn't die again this season.

Kaiju No. 8
CrunchyRoll Subbed and Dubbed coming, April

Based, of course, on a manga, deals with a team meant to face Kaiju (giant monsters). Kafka Hibino, perhaps telling with the name, can transform into a Kaiju himself. The series looks to be a violent mess of fights and action.

Kafka pledged to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Over time, life circumstances forced them to go their separate ways and caused him to abandon his lifelong ambition.

He found himself employed by Monster Sweeper, Inc., a professional cleaning company that specializes in cleaning up the aftermath of Kaiju battles. Meanwhile, Mina Ashiro is now the Captain of the Defense Force’s 3rd Division. As it stands, he is currently unworthy of fighting Kaiju alongside her.

Here's the synopsis:“Let's wipe out the Kaiju together.”
At work, Kafka crosses paths with the highly motivated Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s undying determination to join the Defense Force leaves no room for failure. His perseverance reawakens Kafka’s ambition of standing next to Mina as they protect humanity from Kaiju together.

A dream frozen by time, thawed by a burning promise. But Kafka doesn’t know that an imminent Kaiju threat is unexpectedly approaching him."

Dan Da Dan
Netflix, Crunchyroll, Subbed, No word on dub, yet, Oct

Oh baby, this one we've been waiting on. Since reading it via Viz we wondered how long it be until it be picked up an anime. Guess 2024 is the answer as this crazy supernatural, sci-fi high school drama comes out this Fall. From the people of Science Saru, we know the show is in good hands. If they can get the art and humor anywhere near the manga they'll have a solid hit. The base material here is pure sweet nectar.

Here's the synopsis: “This is a story about Momo, a high school girl who comes from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult fanatic. After Momo rescues Okarun from being bullied, they begin talking. However, an argument ensues between them since Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens exist, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts exist. To prove to each other what they believe in is real, Momo goes to an abandoned hospital where a UFO has been spotted and Okarun goes to a tunnel rumored to be haunted. To their surprise, they each encounter overwhelming paranormal activities that transcend comprehension.”

Now the next two big ones don't have release dates, but many are hoping they come out this year.

One Punch Man has been gone for years now, but J.C. Staff, who did Season 2 are working on Season 3. Not the best news as J.C. Staff, though known for some great work, just didn't really cut it for Season 2. Many fans wished the anime would stay with its original season maker's Madhouse.

Suicide Squad Isekai is actually a series, we thought it was just going to be a straight to streaming movie of DC supervillains sent to a fantasy world.

If you've read the site before you know we're very vocal about how bad most WB animated straight to streaming/DVD is. Luckily, this wasn't touched by anyone in America who usually makes that garbage. This looks great for what it is and since it's about the Suicide Squad, we say let the blood flow.

Here's the synopsis:

"In the crime-ridden Gotham city, Amanda Waller, the head of A.R.G.U.S., has assembled a group of notorious criminals for a mission: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface and King Shark. These DC Super-Villains are sent into an otherworldly realm that's connected to this world through a gate. It's a world of swords and magic where orcs rampage and dragons rule the skies—an "ISEKAI"!"

Harley and others go on a rampage after arriving in ISEKAI but are captured by the Kingdom's soldiers and sent to prison. They only have 72 hours before the bomb on their neck explodes. The deadline is fast approaching. After negotiations with Queen Aldora, the condition for liberation was the conquest of the hostile Imperial army. They have no choice but to throw themselves head-first into the front line of battle."

Totally not for your younger kids, but you can enjoy.
