Palm Springs Film Fests May - June

If you wanted to escape for a weekend or two from LA or just didn't visit everything you wanted to when you came for Coachella or Stagecoach, you've go these upcoming film festivals and screenings in Palm Springs or adjacent.

70MM Palm Springs Getaway @ the Palm Springs Cultural Center will be starting off what you
can see in Coachella Valley. From the fine folks over at Secret Movie Club; they're taking a weekend off to Palm Springs and you're invited. The Palm Springs 70mm Getaway Film Festival will have three special showings: 2001, Lawrence of Arabia and West Side Story. And there's going to be after-parties to go with two of the films at classic Palm Springs venues.

You can get a deal getting all the movies and after-parties for $195 or get it all separate. As of writing this you can get a ticket for any film for $19.87. They'll also have some pre-parties in the theater where you can get special merch for the fest.

Ending May, you've got the first film festival in Pioneertown. Not that far from Palm Springs is the Pioneertown International Film Festival, yee-haw!

The 3-day immersive experience set in Pioneertown, celebrating the Western genre, independent cinema, and the American culture of the west and will have themed film screenings, masterclasses, live music, and screenings under the stars that will transport you to the heart of the American frontier.

It's all set for the end of May this year, May 27th-29th

This one has a lot going for it, like how it'll be totally fine to dress like a cowboy or cowgirl. And then you have the pie fight, which better be a real pie fight no some sissy token pie fight with fake pies. If you're in for a real fight to get cream and laugh, this better be it.

Also, western shorts will look better out in the desert.

Hoo-boy, this one will be a lot of fun.

Some highlights:

An American Tail: Fievel Goes West ("30ish" Anniversary)
With Director Phil Nibbelink in attendance

Memberin' Monte Hellman: His Acid Westerns with Jack Nicholson
(The Shooting & Ride in The Whirlwind)
Presented by Melissa Hellman & Jennifer Nicholson

Pie-O-Neer Duels
Uncivilized pie-fightin' entertainment

In late June, you have the 28th Palm Springs International ShortFest. From June 21-27 screenings will be at the Camelot Theatres (Palm Springs Cultural Center. Apparently, the Best of Fest films will also be available to watch virtually after the fest.

We'll be updating you with news on what's playing at the shortsfest and hopefully our favorite of horror shorts has a nice selection this year.
