IndieCade 2019: Night Games

We're all insanely giddy with anticapation for this year's IndieCade, our own indie game festival here in LA. Well, really a part of Santa Monica College. For about three days (Oct 10-12), best day to go is Saturday, the newest indie games will be shown, play-tested and commented on. It's not just strange new video games, they have those ol' fashion card games and board games and just interactive games you got to play in the now.

*Heads up, parking will straight up suck at Santa Monica college. The closes place to park is $35 and street parking is bad, because of college zoning rules. We highly recommend a Lyft like service or taking the Metro.

Here's the info, but we're also going over what has caught our eye in the previews. We're gonna be going over Night Games now and the -when the sun is out- games later.

We're a little worried that local indie game collective Glitch City is hosting the Night Games as their game nights always seemed...extremely packed with no real flow on where to go. And they did just lose their game space, so don't know what mood they'll be in to organize, but I heard from friedns they've been planning for a while.

Sometimes considered the best part of the event is the Nigh Games where sometimes more adult and ridiculous games can shine. Let's hope for some fun and strange immersive experiences.

Here's some of the Night Games:

Liquid Bit, LLC & Bumblebear Games Killer Queen Black, a new take on the arcade eSport Killer Queen, has been rebuilt from the ground up and optimized for console. The gameplay is immediately recognizable and familiar, yet introduces exciting new mechanics and online play for the home audience.

ALT Games Lab @ UCSC In the world of Mad Mixologist, two scientists set out to create the perfect drink. However, during their final experiment, an accident occurred and their vision became swapped. Now each mixologist can only see from the eyes of the other, and they must quickly work together to complete their ultimate drink before it is too late!

Carol Mertz & Francesca Carletto-Leon Be careful what you sit on — it might be a HELLCOUCH! Once you sit on this possessed couch, it’s your moral responsibility to perform the sacred butt ritual to release the demon from its cozy couch prison, or keep it cushioned inside the Hellcouch for the rest of eternity. Built using Unity and Arduino, this cooperative alternative controller game will keep you on your toes AND your tail!
