Cinerama Dome Cinerama's 60th Anniversary

For the FIRST and ONLY time for one SPECTACULAR WEEK we will be playing twelve classic Cinerama productions. Select titles will be presented in the original 3 strip Cinerama process and additional titles will be digitally projected, re-mastered from the original negatives.
All of the films will be presented in the Dome, one of only three theatres in the world capable of projecting in 3 strip Cinerama. Specially designed to project Cinerama, the Dome features a giant, 126-degree curved screen that immerses audiences in the picture . Made of 316 hexagons and pentagons, the Dome is the only concrete geodesic dome in the world.

The H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival® promotes the works of famed American science fiction and horror author H.P. Lovecraft through motion pictures by both professionals and amateurs, current and classic, national and international. The festival was founded in 1995 by Andrew Migliore in Portland, Oregon to promote and encourage film and television adaptations of Lovecraft's great works and other, similar weird tale writers such as Edgar Allan Poe, M.R. James and Robert E. Howard.

One of China’s most celebrated circus troupes will present Cirque Chinois, a program filled with extraordinary acrobatic grace. The National Circus of the People's Republic of China has been performing in its unique style for over sixty years, influencing circuses the world over, including Cirque du Soleil and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey. Breathtaking movements performed on the flying trapeze, interspersed with deft juggling and mouth-dropping body contortions, will mesmerize and astound.


Carmaggedon II at LACMA

September 29, 30 | 10 am

The weekend of September 29 and 30, another ten-mile stretch of the 405 will be closed down for the I-405 project. Leave your car at home and come to LACMA! We’re offering half off general admission during the weekend for anyone who comes via an alternate mode of transportation (bus, bike, skate, walk, etc.). To redeem your discounted admission, just let the Ticket Office know how you traveled.

"September 28, 2012, artists Dave Perillo and Tom Whalen will unveil their 2-man show, “Around The World in an 80′s Daze” at Gallery 1988: Venice.
The show will feature 21 screen printed retro-style travel posters that celebrate 80′s pop culture.
Both Dave and Tom will be in attendance at the show opening on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Gallery 1988 (214 Pier Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90405). The opening reception will be from 7–10 PM."

    Join us on September 28th, 2012 as over 3,400 participants race to the top of the US Bank Tower in downtown Los Angeles. From 1:00-9:00pm Hope St will be shut down to make room for food trucks, music stages, a beer garden, a rock climbing wall, and more! Admission to the Stair Climb Block Party is FREE, so even if you don't participate in the climb, you can still bring your friends and celebrate with us at this unique downtown event. Proceeds benefit community programs at the Ketchum-Downtown YMCA
