Halloween 2011: The Birds

Like the Hitchcock movie 14,000 birds will be descending on one place... a big ol' chimney. You can watch as a type of bird called Vaux’s swifts (strange name) migrate like something in line with the Swallows of Capistrano. Insted of Capistrano you have a chimney in LA.

"The Audubon Center at Debs Parks and the Los Angeles Audubon Society will hold two organized public viewings of the Vaux’s swifts from 6 to 7:30 on Friday Sept. 23 and Sept. 30 atop Joe’s Auto Park at 440 Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles. Parking is $3. Birdwatchers are encouraged to bring picnics, binoculars and something to sit on, plus head covering. Park on level just below the top, because if you park your car on top, it will get “painted” by bird poo. We’re not kidding."

Quite possibly the best thing to do is invite friends to come in their favorite clothes and bring an umbrella for yourself. You see, the people who tell of this event say bird doody will fall from the sky...EVERYWHERE!
