Anime Expo 2019 Update: Movie Premieres, Yu-Gi-Oh! Art Show & Special Guests

AX is about two weeks now. Let's go over some updates and go over any other little tidbits we found.

As lovers of film, we write about screenings every week. However, we're kind of at a crossroads for The 4DX Anime Film Fest, because the movies chosen: Detective Conan: Zero The Enforcer, Mobile Suit Gundam NT (Narrative) and Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the MOVIE – A Wakening of the Trailblazer look like they suck. And 4DX, immersive shaking and smoke are a gimmick that just isn't that great.

However, with a group of anime fans making fun of these films together...and boy should they, Detective Conan is especially a movie for children, that will be watched by teenagers and adults, means a fun time of heckling.

It's gonna be the perfect mix of anime for the wrong audience and seats that vibrate. Let's hope some people barf and make some really dumb jokes.

Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution is also screening. This is a CGI rendered version of the original movie. It's just sound awful to us. Why redo an entire movie in CGI?

In one of the more sillier crossovers or we guess Gallery 1988 tribute shows we're getting G1988 x Yu-Gi-Oh!

Yup, the same artist you know and lover that we feature on the site all the time are gonna be drawing (sigh) Yu-Gi-Oh! It's gonna be some pretty strikingly weird art. Opening Reception taking place at Gallery 1988 is July 4th. Celebrate the birth of America with Yugi!

"In addition to the traditional artwork, a once-in-a-lifetime installation from Pretty In Plastic will also be displayed at G1988, creating a must-see for f Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, new or old."

Creator of Akira and also it's director is a special guest. Someone who created that...I mean you want to know what the Hell's he's thinking. Oh, someone's probably gonna ask him what he thinks about the live action movie finally suppose to come out again.

Snag this unofficial album based on Akira here. We're listening to it as we write this update.
