Murder LA 000066

A bloody scene unfolded when a man returned to his Long Beach home on Saturday, January 3rd, 2015. According to authorities, he sat on his bed while his girlfriend fed their three-week-old daughter. Suddenly a "dark-complected man" walked into the room and opened fire.

Responding to a report of gunshots, police found the as-yet-unidentified couple wounded along with the father's brother, who was also there at the time. They all survived their wounds but the infant was abducted.

The Long Beach Police Department released the missing girl's name, Eliza Delacruz, and asked for the public to be wary of anyone "bringing home an infant under suspicious circumstances," which seems like general advice that should go without saying.

In San Diego County the following day a homeless man searching through a dumpster for cans found the girl's body in a bag. The Imperial Beach man was badly shaken by his discovery.

A $25,000 reward for information leading to conviction has been offered by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

One investigator said at the time that they had little beyond the description of a Hispanic or African-American male. Police have not so far indicated any more that may have since been gleaned as the victims recovered in hospital.
