LA Links: LA Is Virtually Surreal

Can't say I like the creator of Ingress from the recenly LA Weekly article:
L.A. Becomes a Battleground in Google's Augmented Reality Game Ingress

In it John Hanke, creator of Ingress calls LA's Little Tokyo San Fran's Japantown.

His words for the game are all the more boring; a redirect you've heard spouted a million times before, “I’m a fan of video games and have kids who play video games, but I also love the outdoors and hiking and exploring. As a parent, I saw the opportunity, and perhaps the need, for a game that would encourage players to get outside, moving and exploring.”

Ingress is a an augmented reality massively multiplayer online role playing that uses GPS. Like a TV show has a run with a new story each season so does the game every year. You can play as two factions the Enlightened who makes portals and the Resistance who destroys them.

The Oscars of Virtual Reality

is the first awards for Virtual Reality that we know of in LA with much thanks to the Oculus Rift.
