VIS-Á-VIS Performance Series August

Staring August 9th, big surprise, Materials and Applications shows off its trippy new birdhouse with Saturday events. La Cage aux Folles or the birdcadge will have special events the rest of August. The ear-leaning workshop sounds the most gross. The electronic music scheduled for this first Saturday seems a lot less gross.

From their press releases:
Summer just keeps getting better. Every Saturday night in August we'll be activating La Cage aux Folles with our new performance series: VIS-Á-VIS. The Warren Techentin Architecture [WTARCH] designed folly will host events including a dance performance, concert, film screening, and a bi-coastal sound installation. Drinks provided by MacLeod Ale Brewing Co. Check out the schedule and La Cage pics below and cancel your vacation plans accordingly.
VIS-Á-VIS is curated by Jess Castillo and Kevin Crooks.

bel-air / New York Memo

Using field recordings taken around New York City by DJs from Greg Ruben's Brooklyn based internet radio program, "bel-air", the DJs will create an installation of NYC's sonic environment in La Cage's courtyard. The recordings, which were mostly captured surreptitiously using the iPhone's Voice Memos app, will be presented in a longform, looping, multi-channel format. At times loud and chaotic, other times uncannily peaceful, each listener's experience is unique depending on their location in the courtyard, and how the different channels happen to be in their individual loop cycles. For more info & updates, RSVP on the Facebook event
