Game Hype: Kojima Productions L.A., Humble Indie Bundle 9, UCLA GameLab

Kojima Productions L.A. Opens

Gamasutra has a great look of the new facility.

Brand new offices for Konami in the form of Kojima Productions. Kojima Productions will be working on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Hideo Kojima for which the new studio was named open the doors to the media Sept 5 with the breaking of sake barrel, a Japanese tradition and special collectible sake wooden cups for attendees.

How Konami was able to afford a brand new LA studio has me question how poorly run other major game companies are doing such as Square Enix.

Another point you might like to think about is Konami put it's money in building a stake in America to make more games where there's immediate talent to pick up. While Mighty No. 9's Comcept USA company is based in Japan. Why give them money in their Kickstarter when the don't drive the local economy? Why is that company called Comcept USA, when it's based in Japan anyway? Forget Japanese companies, keep your games local.

Humble Bundle 9 is going on now, get Fez for $5, now available on Mac and Linux. Only good for 12 more days.

KCET's Artbound has an article on Eddo Stern, he's in charge of UCLA's GameLab.
